as for this, I dunno:

I think it would have been useful in a way for the kid to see her mom NOT get something nice done for her because she chose to be nasty instead of cooperative.

On the other hand, I do see this woman regularly at after-care pickup and the last thing I want is for her to make further problems with the potential of those problems happening in front of my kids AND her kid AND other kids.
Unfortunately that does have the net effect of letting her be a bully and get away with it.
