Relatively new in the scheme of the Earth's existence, sure.
But surely you cannot be making an argument that just because it's only something that's mattered for oh, 100 years or so, that we should just be like *shrug* "oh well"?
Cultural expectations and mores shift over time, that's true. But we go by what defines our time not by what was once at some point in the history of civilization cool.
