12727318, Any Ya'll Coming Down To Nawlins For Mardi Gras?
Posted by vee-lover, Fri Feb-13-15 05:14 PM
This is my 1st time ever experiencing Mardi Gras and I've had countless opportunities to go

And initially I wasn't looking forward to it just because I'm not into large crowds like that

But being down here you can't help but get caught up in all the excitement

It is CRAZY in the city right now!!! This is the 1st time Mardi Gras will be in February instead of March as it usually is

What I'm looking forward to, though, is the Zulu Ball which is the oldest black organization here in New Orleans and amongst Negroes it's something they look forward to just as much as Mardi Gras. The women are looking unbelievable good for these events as everybody is getting all done up.

So are any of you all coming down?
12727385, ive lived in this area off and on since 1998

have told me they're tired of Mardi Gras having gone all their lives...

I was just curious to know what was your reason why you've only been 1x

If I had friends, I'm sure I would.

Not going to the parades in my own damn city.
12727407, did the Zulu ball last year, Patti tore it down!

But I'm getting a little sick of the parades (tired of dealing with the crowds and traffic). So we taking the kids to Mardi Gras in Alabama this year.
12727533, I was thinking abt going to the NOMTOC parade today but after

there was a shooting two days ago a downtown parade that resulted in one person dying and the other in critical condition, I decided that's ok...

I hate we let our sister city hijack our tradition on a national scale. Alabama stays hustling backwards
12727569, when i explain to people the origins of Mardi Gras in Mobile
Posted by seasoned vet, Sat Feb-14-15 02:10 PM
people are shocked in disbelief
12727579, Eh count me as one those who didn't know the origins of Mardi Gras
Posted by vee-lover, Sat Feb-14-15 02:32 PM
began in Mobile, AL of all places...

I'd really like to know the history of it and how it's now become a New Orleans tradition

New Orleans does seem more fitting for this type of event

>people are shocked in disbelief
12727819, I submitted that as a question on Trivia Crack. I wonder how many failed

12727551, of course it has, February is the official month for the carnival but the

last few Mardi Gras have fell in March
12727616, Take that L puff it twice, and pass it.

12727629, Is it that serious? Lol I mean really...this is my 1st time ever going to
Posted by vee-lover, Sat Feb-14-15 05:23 PM
this event and from what the locals have told me is that 2-4 Mardi Gras fell in March due to the calendar but that is normally in. February which is the official month for it...as I already said,

I swear some of you act like 3rd graders smh

>last few Mardi Gras have fell in March
12727680, your OP made it seem like ppl said it's rare for it to be in Feb.
Posted by bayoubyyou, Sat Feb-14-15 07:41 PM
I don't think anybody is being that serious about it.
12727734, That's because the ppl in NO have been advertising it being in Feb
Posted by vee-lover, Sat Feb-14-15 11:24 PM
as opposed to March as it had been in a few yrs back

>I don't think anybody is being that serious about it.z

So wtf is talking abt "taking your L" was all abt then?

The event is a February tradition as I said...but every now and then it falls in March

12727736, that's weird to me
Posted by bayoubyyou, Sat Feb-14-15 11:54 PM
Mainly because it's not like it's a decade before it's in March. It usually happens every three or four years. And last year was a March year.

I mean....nobody where I'm at has even mentioned that. That's why it was an odd thing to see mentioned to me.
12727742, Still refusing to say "my bad" I see.

And the year before that one.
