i was brainstorming on a video installation piece and my potential collaborator kept on trying to toss in controversial stuff that had no basis or relation to the story. I had to spell it out to him. Controversy for the sake of controversy is the height of dishonesty and fake deepness. You don't think of the shock first and then find ways to frame it. That's cheap attention-seeking behaviour. Nevertheless I don't think I'll work with this artist on the project.
