Every time I listen to a full Drake album I want to take a nap immediately afterwards.

Every song sounds like a lower energy version of Worst behavior. He dropped it Valentine's weekend and ain't even got tracks for the ladies. No standout tracks that'll hit Worst behavior or 0 to 100's level at all.

I give it a 6.5/10 first listen. Nothing is bad but it's just a sleeper.

As you said, almost anything Drake makes ends up in the club solely because it's him, but a lot of em disappear from rotation forever once they're done. Can't tell you the last time I played Over, or Successful, or Headlines, or No new friends, or even Up all night which went hard.

As for Pump faking? Don't know what that means in this context. At this point Lamar's project doesn't seem beholden to singles...

The thing is Drake will always be the bigger "star"...Much of that comes out of the type of music he makes. Dude had a single that was being played on Adult Contemporary R&B stations...So I don't think Drake's fanbase should be having strokes over what Lamar does in a commercial sense. Drake is the biggest selling rapper on the planet right now and consistently knocks out radio anthems. Dude is good...

As for "I"? I think u need to catch up to what's happening here. The thing is Drake is THE STAR in hip-hop and is also THE PUNCHLINE. I don't think we've ever seen anything like this in hip-hop. We've had popular rappers that invoked hate. But not because they were deemed overtly sensitive, sing love songs, get tapped in the jaw by record moguls or post of passive aggressive flicks on social media...The whole meme with Drake is that he is softer than a strippers ass...

music is made to be experienced again and again and our feelings change with time

Some artists speak to us immediately and some grow on us

Some sound great on the first listen before we get sick of them and many never connect with us at all.

Each person has a unique journey with each artist/song

Add on the personal bias the critic may have (I just happened to be privy to yours)

He mentioned Drake in a line with a bunch of other rappers that was more about the spirit of competition than anything else. Drake however was the only one that took it VERY personal, which spoke volumes. Lamar was not beefing with Drake...Until dude got bitchy in an interview....

Actually, the only time I see Kendrick Lamar fans come out is when Drake fans cry about their hero not being respected and Lamar getting a pass for whateher he's doing at the moment...I rarely see Lamar fans bringing up Drake in their own threads without the subject coming up...

The truth is Drake is a superstar, high selling, mainstream artist who should not be concerned with Lamar. But for some reason he and his very sensitive fans are.

both albums have some real catchy songs and some fairly (or super, depending on which album you're talking about) thoughtful songs.

this album after a second and third listen basically feels like some NWTS b-sides. it's hot in the way Drake's status and talent can make just about anything hot, but in a vacuum I wouldn't argue it holds up especially well, there's not enough variation it's kind of all the same song and the second half isn't as interesting as the first as a result.

It's fun for right now.


Also, Future's Beast Mode is the best album of the year so far. Sorry Tetsuo.

Drake rules 42 percent of the 50-position Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart (dated March 7), as the hip-hop star has 21 concurrent songs on the tally -- breaking his own record for the most simultaneously charting hits in the history of the chart. (The new chart will be refreshed on Billboard's websites on Thursday, Feb. 26.)

Seven more tracks from his surprise album If You're Reading This It's Too Late debut on the newest chart, joining the 10 already-charting cuts from the set. Thus, all 17 tracks from Drake's album are charting on the tally.

Drake Becomes First Rapper to Top Artist 100

His grand total climbs to 21 charting tracks, as he's also a featured act on four additional songs.

Drake surpasses his previous record for the most concurrently-charting songs -- 14 -- which he matched a week ago (on the chart dated Feb. 25) following the debut of his album.

The new songs enter off the strength of downloads and streaming, with every track from the set logging no less than 1.8 million U.S. streams in the week ending Feb. 22, according to Nielsen Music. Of the album's tracks, "Energy" leads the pack, taking Streaming Gainer honors and increasing by 201 percent (to 4.6 million clicks), with 82 percent stemming from Spotify plays. Sales of the cut also rise (up 21 percent to 77,000 downloads), driving it 4-1 on Rap Digital Songs -- his first No. 1 as a lead act (and fourth overall) on the still-young chart.

Of his latest arrivals on the chart, "Know Yourself" earns the Hot Shot Debut at No. 23, owed in part to a 13 percent spike in downloads (to 15,000).

If You're Reading This It's Too Late remains at No. 1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, selling 129,000 copies in its second week (down 74 percent). The momentum of the new project secures a second week atop the Billboard Artist 100, where Drake became the first rapper to earn a No. 1 spot.
