12723205, What is Kanye Kardashian's problem?
Posted by SoWhat, Wed Dec-31-69 07:00 PM
From the outside it looks like Kanye is in crisis. But I'm way on the outside - 2 time zones away, even. So I dunno. Maybe he's just fine and dandy and I'm the one w/the problem. After all, he got more hoes. Plus I'm miserable. So to entertain myself in my misery I throw stones at the throne. Lulz.

So what's homie's problem? Is it cocaine? Is the cocaine complicating some psychiatric disorder? Or has too much of that loud herb complicated some psychiatric disorder? Or maybe whitey's foot is on his neck to the point that it's cutting off blood flow to his brain? Or is the pressure of keeping up w/the Kardashians really getting to him? Shouldn't he change his name to Kanye Kardashian? It fits. I mean, if Kim is going to adopt a name that makes her sound like she should be processing my W-4's at the job instead of being a celeb, then HE should take the sexier name - Kanye Kardashian. right?

What gives?

BONUS CUT:

Who in the hell put Kim in that bedazzled bathrobe at the Grammy Awards show? I know it's Gaultier couture, but b/c it wasn't properly tailored for Kim's body on her it LOOKED LIKE a glittery bathrobe. the sleeves hit her middle knuckles. the bottom hem was dragging on the floor. the shoulder pads were on her arms. it looked like a bathrobe. a jeweled bathrobe.

compare the runway look w/Kim's look and you'll see what i'm talking about.

Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Tue Feb-10-15 12:10 PM
Like he sucked her into this fame game where she felt like she needed a tummy tuck.

And that's the thing about her death. It is literally a hollywood punchline (played for jokes most memorably in Clueless).

I mean dying from a tummy tuck, if it didn't happen to a decent woman we'd might be laughing at it.

I think that kind of knaws at him. Like he made a deal with the devil or something that costs his mothers life.

thematically he started talking about devils, sin and hell alot after she died.

that's a particular skill set, I think...
and many smarter than average ppl never have folks
that can reach them at teachable moments.

ppl have probably been telling kanye to stfu for his entire life.
what he didn't have, most likely,
was some one to pull him aside and say...
"you are actually a little smarter than most ppl.
so you will find many things more frustrating than regular ppl.
you will get bored things quiker than regular ppl do.
and sometimes ppl will accuse you of "trying to be different"
when you express your sincerely held beliefs.

that being said, you really do need to stfu, sometimes.
because ppl dumber than you will always exist,
and many of them will be ppl you need to not burn bridges with.

also, you aren't THAT fucking smart,
and ppl thay annoy you understand some important,
obvious to everyone but you shit that you'd be well advised to learn.

and there are also ppl thag are just smarter and
have more experience than you. so you
need to make sure you don't get frustrated and
assume you know everything."

he never got that talk.

thoughtfulness as we are using it means
knowing what to say out of your mouth and when.

so take you, for instance.

you and I go back and forth about what is and isn't rape.
the discussions go on and on.

obviously, you wouldn't have the same debates you have here
at your job, because your views would damage some important relationships.

at some point, you learned when to shut the fuck up.

I did too.

I use case_one as my punching bag for homophobia,
because if I went off on ppl in real life as often as I go off on him,
I would hurt my career and have no friends.

You and I found an appropriate setting to express our
potentially grating thoughts.

Here's the thing.

Kanye, for whatever reason, didn't learn that lesson.

So it hurts him and he's a jerk.

With more or better mentorship,
he would probably be able to accomplish more
and actually be able to grow into the genius he thinks he is.

Which is my original point.

If you are even slightly smarter than the average person,
you need to learn how to navigate that.
if you don't... you end up being insufferable- like kanye.

12723372, what makes me smart?
Posted by Joe Corn Mo, Tue Feb-10-15 12:17 PM
What makes anybody smart?

Part of kanye's problem is that you aren't even
allowed to call yourself smart, or consider yourself smart
unless you ACHEIVE something that everybody recognizes as a work of genius.

what ppl miss is that being intelligent is more than
being good at music or writing or whatever.

High intelligence also gives you an internal world that is different
than most other ppl. And it is different before you accomplish a damn thing.

Your reactions to your environment will be different.
You'll notice (and probably be irritated by) shit
most ppl don't even notice.

And if you don't learn a very particular way of
expressing yourself... everybody will think you are a jerk.

That's kanye, from what I can tell.

I suspect he's smarter than average because
he seems to be hypersensitive to stimulus.
He gets distracted by a detail in the present moment
and doesn't consider how other ppl are perceiving what's happening.

He just strikes me as a highly sensative person
that has not learned that the rest of the world does not
share his sensitivity.

So, he's a jerk.

And because he is not quite as smart as he thinks he is
and doesn't think things through...

He's also pretty foolish.

But I don't know the man.
It's all speculation.
12723394, No offense but I think this is the thing "us" smart people tell ourselves

to make us feel better about our anti-social behavior.

I do agree that artist are hypersensitive. Kanye is an artist.

I think the notion of smartness is overrated. Their are alot of smart people not doing ish but comfort themselves with being just being smart.

Kanye is quite accomplished though.

I guess I am saying this all has nothing to do with him being smart or not smart.

Posted by Joe Corn Mo, Tue Feb-10-15 01:38 PM
you can also reframe the way you look at social interaction.
what cannot be changed, though... is the baseline level of
irritation from stimulus, or the connections you tend to draw
that other ppl miss.

When ppl say smart, what they usually mean is "accomplished."

making the transition of merely being smart
to actually being accomplished requires you to process the fact that you see the world different
and have to turn that into an actual competitive advantage.

if you can't figure out how to do that...
well, you are pretty much fucked.

If a pretty smart 13 yr old is bored in class
and becomes a class clown...
and then is routed to those dumb classes they send
obnoxious ppl to,

the odds of that kid becoming accomplished drop drastically.
especially if he gets suspended or even arrested for kid shit.

you can say that kid is "making excuses" all you want,
but his internal experience is always gonna be fundamentally different than
the kid that was in remdial classes because they did not grasp the material.

being highly sensitive is an so interconnected to being smart
that they might as well be the same thing.
and our society's tendancy to throw away ppl
that are hard to deal with results in ppl that are
really really smart that end up looking really really stupid,
which leads to them never becoming accomplished,
which makes ppl say they are full of shit if they
try to explain their experience of being slightly smarter than average person.

so while I don't think kanye is the genius he thinks he is,
I don't doubt that his internal world is vastly different from
most ppl's.

if he had better guidance,
the world would have one less jerk.

highly sensative/ highly intelligent ppl
need special shit as kids just as much as
the profoundly disabled.

and if they don't get it,
their brain can turn against them to the point
where they are for all intents and purposes, stupid.

I feel kanye has interesting fashion ideas,
but that's not enough to make it.

especially when you piss off your

Somehow the celebrated narcasstic asshole rockstar became a dinosaur. We had trashy superstar celeb couples like Tommy Lee or Pamela Anderson, Oasis’s Gallaghers brothers went in on completion of all stripes in ways that would give Kanye pause, and even Kurt Cobain found time to unfairly (and hypocritically) shit on other popular bands from his holier then thou perch.

Id also argue that it irks us more because its one of our own doing it, and for greater White America its an example of 'never shouldda gave you n-words money' bad behavior.

It just seems insane/disrespectful/douchey to most because we don't have any actual rock stars that exhibit that kind of behavior in the mainstream anymore, and then there's the issue of color and the fact that he's a rapper. 12723802, It's all an act
Posted by EAS, Tue Feb-10-15 02:59 PM
Even before the major fame, Kanye has talked crazy, but I think he honed it into his schtick and is now just over the top.
I don't think it is his "misunderstood genius" that makes him act out in public; if that's the case......you can put Dennis Rodman/Courtney Love/etc. in the same category. Kanye acts up because it brings more attention to his brand. Dude is doing other things besides music and trying to push and sell those products as well. Unless he says something racist, homophobic, anti semetic, or sexist.......then there is really no bad press for a celebrity.

With that being said......I do think he is on that cocaine (or some type of drug). I mean, he is rich and famous, so it's a given. I know it is wrong for me to think that.....but I just do. I feel most rich/celebs are on that blow; some can just handle it better than others.

So to sum it up, it's an act but that cocaine (or whatever drug) is making him seem a little off, even for Kanye. No proof, just the vibe I am getting.

>Kanye acts up because it brings more attention to his brand.

As much talking as he's done about his "brand", how could this not be obvious?

Add this to the fact that he thought it a good move to be involved with a woman
who is famous for getting attention. All of it is about advancing his "brand" and surrounding
himself with people people who understand and can assist him in that.

kanye put taylor swift on the map. for all i know, beck's people hit ye off with some loot to get beck some shine. cuz like, who knew beck even had an album out right now?! now we ALL know. i now know, and i didn't even watch the grammy's. maybe making artists a household name is ye's side-hustle.

that being said, i'm pretty sure he's off his rocker. he clearly picked out that glittery bathrobe and you just know he was convinced it was the next jlo at the grammy's in green versace. nah son.

12726481, She was already a star, player.
Posted by SoWhat, Thu Feb-12-15 10:36 PM
She was already a huge success. She would've been without Kanye's shenanigans.

Beck was already a star and wouldve been in the news bc he'd just won the Grammy for album of the year - allegedly upsetting Yonce, who many cynically expected to win the award. That story was going to have him in the news without Kanye's shenanigans.
