What have we copped recently? What are we lusting after? What are our predictions for the future? What do you want to buy, but aren't completely sold on.
12723167, anybody tried Levi's Athletic Fit denim?|

12724915, I have a pair|
Posted by A Sizzle, Wed Feb-11-15 12:45 PM
I'm a mallee guy but basketball has my leg proportions all fucked up. Even though I have big calves,?The leg opening is a tad wider than I'd like.
Overall, they're great.
12749628, I got a pair. Not enough taper below the knee and vanity-sized waist|
Posted by John Forte, Thu Mar-12-15 12:24 PM
12749831, also the DENIM sucks. 3% elastin, and they don't feel like jeans at all|

12723170, I'm obsessed with my comeup from the Great Timberland Flourishment|
Posted by John Forte, Tue Feb-10-15 11:05 AM
Really, really high quality. They're made in the same Arkansas factory that makes Frye boots. I've never given Frye a look, but now I'm legitimately curious.
12723183, Im jealous as fuck|
Posted by BigReg, Tue Feb-10-15 11:08 AM
I got the link late that night by my sister and was like, "ehh, already got a pair of solid timbs fo the winter"
Then you posted that pair the next day and I was like, "Shit, who knew Timberland had joints like those"...order went out but I never got them
My sister was doing the Christmas day gift dance when we went to go visit our parents and her free pair was waiting for her there.
>Really, really high quality. They're made in the same

12723191, I'm looking at them like raw denim|
Posted by John Forte, Tue Feb-10-15 11:11 AM
I'm really interested in the way they're going to break-in, age and patina. I have them a beeswax sno-seal, but I'm going to beat the living shit out of 'em.

12723208, Spring cleaning|
Posted by BigReg, Tue Feb-10-15 11:28 AM
gained some weight that im trying to work off. Made me realize that some of my jeans were a little too much on the '20 year old hipster' side of skinny.
So this year is a chance to buy some nice solid joints. Outside of that, I realized that i copped like 4 blazers last year that I have hardly worn....im hoping to start rocking them in the spring. It's going to be an interesting experiment, im trying to not come off as black college professor.

12724428, That Mr. Cooper look is prety inevitable. I hate it.|
Posted by Doronmonkflake, Wed Feb-11-15 06:09 AM
I would love to wear a blazer with jeans. I keep lookin like a foreign national snuck in the Grown and Sexy club and refused to leave.
12749714, Yep, I'm looking out cleaning out my socks and getting more hankies|
Posted by spades, Thu Mar-12-15 01:15 PM
I do a lot more walking now that I live city center and my socks are starting to get A LITTLE thin.
Also, as I have a tendency to give away my hankies (I buy them cheap, I ain't tripping) I've noticed the supplies are getting low.
Time to re-up.
12723231, What do we know about the Brooklyn Boot Company?|
Posted by EmDub, Tue Feb-10-15 11:38 AM
I ask because they are in ever ad on the internet, following me around like a real creep.
But I think I love these boots:

Posted by GROOVEPHI, Tue Feb-10-15 11:56 AM
a glen plaid Ralph Lauren hunting workshirt with the suede on the shoulder. I couldnt pass it up. Og price was 185 at Macys, joint was marked down to 65 with an additional 25% off.
12723314, just pulled a pair of jeans from the freezer for the first|
Posted by SoWhat, Tue Feb-10-15 12:01 PM
and last time.
the jeans kinda smell like ham hocks (i'm Black - i have ham hocks in my freezer all the time). and they're no cleaner than they were when i put them in there weeks ago. duh. i dunno what made me think they'd be cleaner now. lol. am i on drugs? anyway, i'll be going back to the old washer and dryer in the future. every few weeks/months.
12723319, I wash denim every month or two|
Posted by John Forte, Tue Feb-10-15 12:05 PM
12723321, me too. this was an experiment.|
Posted by SoWhat, Tue Feb-10-15 12:05 PM

12723322, no can dry|

word. i let mine air dry to minimize shrinkage
and i like that fresh rough feel for the first couple days
thats just me tho
12723338, i machine dry b/c i WANT the shrinkage.|
Posted by SoWhat, Tue Feb-10-15 12:10 PM
when i buy jeans i'll wear them new several times. then when i wash and dry them that first time they shrink to fit just how i like. then they don't shrink again.
12749833, i machine dry some older/bigger jeans that i need to have that|
Posted by earthseed, Thu Mar-12-15 02:02 PM
and then wash and dry them again till i find more jeans that i like in the right size, lol.
12723345, man, early in the year is a great time to get your sale kicks on |
Posted by kayru99, Tue Feb-10-15 12:11 PM
also just go hipped to buying gear on ebay (i know, welcome to 1999)
So I came up on a couple pair of duckie brown wingtips and some Timberland Boot Company Wodehouse plain toes for like $180 total
Need some decent khakis/business pants. Looking to cop a tailored suit from Asia this spring
12723364, Timberland Boot Company is really really, solid stuff|
Posted by John Forte, Tue Feb-10-15 12:16 PM
Florsheim by Duckie Brown, on the other hand (in my limited experience) is not so great. The materials are middle-of-the road, and the finishing is a little on the sloppy side. Although I may just have a bad pair.
12724459, yeah, I've been really impressed by the timberlands|
Posted by kayru99, Wed Feb-11-15 08:23 AM
they look really distressed and run over, by design, but they're some really really well made shoes, that have way more arch support than I thought.
As for the Duckie Browns, I picked up the laceless wingtips (and promptly put laces in'em, lol) and the saddle shoes. Haven't rocked the saddles yet, but the wingtips are comfortable as hell...like the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn.
12723448, a pair of trues ...idc idc idc|

12749656, What are we wearing to the club (the one with a dress code)?|

I haven't been to a club with a dress code in like 10 years.
12749701, Spring is amongst us. So, blue penny loafers had to be copped...|
Posted by Creole, Thu Mar-12-15 01:08 PM
I'll prolly cop a nice pair of Car Shoe driving loafers too. Alternate between them and the blue penny loafers on our casual Friday's since sneakers can't be worn at all.
The driving shoes:
I'm doing more color with my shoes since the majority of my closet is filled with some shade of brown as it relates to dress shoes. The most bland shoe I've bought in the last couple of months is this one by To Boot.
12749824, nice. love the blue of the loafer.|

normal of cognac, tan, brown, etc.
I bought my first pair of Gucci shoes (chocolate brown oxfords) last October as a birthday gift to myself. The fit of those shoes is awesome. Spent damned near $80 just to potect the heel and sole. So, I decided I'd get another pair but they had to be a staple item that I could definitely keep forever. Something that could be dressed up or down where I could rock with jeans/chinos and a plain white t-shirt if I wanted to.
Considering a pair of their horsebit loafers as a gift to myself this year. Since I don't like black shoes, there will some flavor of brown that I can indulge myself in.
12749912, Yeah, those blue loafers are tough|
Posted by 13Rose, Thu Mar-12-15 02:37 PM
I've been thinking about grabbing a pair myself. I'm not ready for that #Gucci though.

I just bought a bunch of polo-style shirts for work. I think 11 in total and the price was like $165.
12750079, my wife buys from them frequently|
Posted by woe.is.me., Thu Mar-12-15 04:01 PM
her chief complaint is that the garments often don't look the same in person. or they look the same, but the quality is subpar.
but i think you get what you pay for, and she occasionally comes away with something she really likes.
12750140, stay away from their shoes...but other than that its gravy|

might catch me at the bbq looking like I just climbed down from my steed.
12750088, those are beautiful.|
Posted by John Forte, Thu Mar-12-15 04:07 PM
I just copped my first pair of chelseas...in BLACK, no less. I needed a shoe to wear to clubs to Vegas clubs that don't allow sneakers. My only black shoes are cap-toe oxfords and albert slippers.
and I EBAYED them. I couldn't commit serious loot to that purchase.
12750131, yeah i've moved toward the middle|
Posted by woe.is.me., Thu Mar-12-15 04:23 PM
I got these for ~300 on sale. Not CHEAP, but also not in the rarefied air either. after letting all my high-end kicks marinade, i've realized that I end up not wearing them because they are such an investment and I don't want to see the scuffed up by my dad life.
also, imo, the jump in comfort/quality from mid-to high end isn't that big. it's really more about how much one cares about customization, crazy leathers, whether or not something is handmade, etc.
once you cut all that out, you can get something you're really happy with for a relatively affordable price.
12750098, Use this link|
