Posted by PoppaGeorge, Fri Feb-06-15 02:46 PM
I rocked that shit until the faders stopped working and the crossfade was barely working.

Posted by imcvspl, Fri Feb-06-15 02:03 PM
i'm kinda saddened. fucks with my workflow, (though micro center recently stepped up their offerings). that said shit was always way over priced (like 1.99 for a 0.12 cap). and that was literally the only reason i'd go there.

12720710, I appreciated Radio Shack
Posted by DaHeathenOne76, Fri Feb-06-15 02:09 PM
They seem to think about people who didn't have cars

They always kept several stores in the city proper. I didnt have to drive 30 minutes to get my Roku.

And they had great deals on batteries !

huh
12720715, They were the spot for me and my lil bro's electronic hobby stuff
Posted by Wonderl33t, Fri Feb-06-15 02:12 PM
batteries and gyros and circuits...but there's no way they were making much money off of that.

12720729, Rest In Piss to a long overdue death for a really bad store
Posted by Cold Truth, Fri Feb-06-15 02:15 PM
Motherfuck Radioshack. Everything about them is terrible.

The only thing they were good for- phono and RCA

connectors/splitters/what have you are all cheaper on Amazon.
I don’t see how they lasted this long selling so much badly overpriced, low quality garbage.
I’ve read bad things about their employment practices too.
That place died twenty years too late if this is true, and if that merger with Sprint is true, it’s just adding a shitty, overpriced network to their shitty, overpriced junk.
Anyone who shops there deserves their shitty, overpriced products though.
12720759, Damn. They steal your girl too?
Posted by PimpTrickGangstaClik, Fri Feb-06-15 02:28 PM
12720772, no one store should have all this power..lol
Posted by legsdiamond, Fri Feb-06-15 02:37 PM
12720797, Sorry, does your daddy work for Radioshack? Did I offend his honor?
Posted by Cold Truth, Fri Feb-06-15 02:51 PM
I just think it's a horrible, poorly run company that offers poor products and high prices that got by on name recognition for far too long. And no, they didn't have to fuck my girl for me to see that or comment on it.
12720805, oh you mean like radio stuff?

12721303, Yep. Last time I went the did everything they could
Posted by sweet ruffian, Sat Feb-07-15 11:35 AM
Not to give me my money back bc they claimed that I had already returned the item.

Refused to believe I didn't. Even with the damn thing in my hand.

I couldn't wait for it to go out of business. That wack ass, shady ass store. Lol.
12720744, fuck them
Posted by southphillyman, Fri Feb-06-15 02:20 PM
two of my worst jobs as a young bol went out of business (blockbuster and now radio shack)
both horrible places to work (radioshack more so)

they are never going to actually die.
12720771, First Circuity City now this. I was hoping Amazon would buy them.
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Fri Feb-06-15 02:36 PM
And it became sort of like a same day store front for Amazon products.

12720882, another note - I don't see how GNC stores survive
Posted by Lach, Fri Feb-06-15 03:47 PM
They're ridiculously priced compared to online supplement stores and even retail stores like Vitamin Shoppe. I've never seen GNC crowded ever.
12720891, Neither do I. Maybe brand recognition is carrying them.

GNC is a name that most people know, so if you need something but aren't heavy into supplements I guess you'll go there first. But most of their stuff isn't high quality, and their prices aren't really competitive.
12721195, Name recognition. Like you said, their prices and self-branded products
Posted by b.Touch, Fri Feb-06-15 10:01 PM
are generally not the best.
12720902, Every GNC I walk past always has people in 'em

capacitors, resistors, transistors, LED's, breadboards, etc. Got my first PCB etching kit from there when I was middle school and their 200-in-1 and other kits were a mainstay in my bedroom through high school.

12720992, I still use RadioShack for random audio stuff and adapters...
Posted by soulfunk, Fri Feb-06-15 04:44 PM
When you need something the same day and can't wait for Amazon delivery or something else, RadioShack has all kinds of audio cables and power adapters that you can't get from any other storefront.

But I'd guess that little stuff like that is a small part of their business so it isn't enough to keep them open.

I'd think a better partner for them than Sprint would be Best Buy - I know Best Buy was trying to transition into smaller retail stores (Best Buy Mobile) than the big boxes because of how much they have to spend on the real estate. Seems like a partnership there could help both companies - but if RadioShack has a ton of debt and Best Buy doesn't have the capital to take it then it wouldn't make sense.
