12720346, Positive Friday!! Posted by Damali, Fri Feb-06-15 10:42 AM
What's good in your life right this minute? What do you feel positive or excited about?
I'm excited that my husband's acting career is taking off!! Since October, he's booked 11 jobs, with half of them paying.
This past Wednesday, he had a featured role in an Alan Ferguson music video for the song "Classic Man" by Jidenna. Ferguson handpicked my husband at the audition...
Robin was also featured in Wish You Were Mine by Philip George www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7ypnPjz81I
he also shot an Auntie Anne's Pretzel commercial https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152989248122410
completed work on a principal role in a feature film & this spot for CareerBuilder.com: http://youtu.be/iBV1QGxqa8g
and now that he has an agent, we are hoping for more big things to come..

12720370, Responsibility, investments, sensible shit... Posted by TheAlbionist, Fri Feb-06-15 11:03 AM
... I spent most of my twenties, if I wasn't working, on dancefloors, buying girls breakfast and generally convincing myself I'd be young and carefree forever... now I'm signing up for 25 years of debt with a woman I have no intention of *ever* replacing.
I just need a kid and it's a wrap!
(I'm being a bit tongue in cheek, of course - i'm ridiculously excited and it's all happened at the perfect time.)

12720379, lol sounds like you're doing life right :) Posted by Damali, Fri Feb-06-15 11:04 AM

12720374, on: affordable housing Posted by Damali, Fri Feb-06-15 11:04 AM
>portland was awesome first off, i'm dying to go to Portland..i hear so much good about it
>my coworkers and i finna change the affordable housing game
so in case you didn't know, I help run a CDC in Newark and this conversation about affordable housing comes up a lot in the Newark-sphere among developers, other CDCs, government officials..etc...actually they talk more about mixed income housing now but whatever..
anyway, what did you learn in Portland as it relates to affordable housing?..assuming that's why you were there

12720383, not so much learned but planned Posted by teefiveten, Fri Feb-06-15 11:08 AM
it was a meeting of a network of organzations who created community land trusts
so basically the trust owns the land and sells or leases the housing on top of it
so the land remains dedicated to affordability permanently
which is something all major cities should be doing on a large scale but won't ever happen honestly.
we have a plan that we want to do in our organization that will ultimately lead to creating our own trust but baby steps. lol.
|
12720428, wow Posted by Damali, Fri Feb-06-15 11:34 AM

just the idea of that is most certainly revolutionary...good luck. and you're right..there is no way that could ever happen in NYC and very unlikely in the political landscape of Newark

12720444, yeah it has to be community driven Posted by teefiveten, Fri Feb-06-15 11:40 AM
the city may put $ on it but not if it's already in place and semi-successful

12720528, sooo i'm gonna be featured on a major media outlet Posted by blackrussian, Fri Feb-06-15 12:11 PM
via a publication i'm involved with. it's cool but i feel underwhelmed. i guess it will be good for me long term? meh.
i think i want to write a book.
i've kinda started planning my dissertation, even though i don't have to submit my proposal for a couple of months. it's basically the same as what i thought it would be when i started this masters, so i guess it's a strong idea.
i haven't been feeling too good, so i'm looking forward to resting a lot this weekend. have a good one, everyone x

12720614, live from the doctors office Posted by kinetic20, Fri Feb-06-15 01:18 PM
i have been here since 845a and i am wiped out had a scare this week but all is well now came in for a regular appt and immediately got sent to the hospital for possible pre eclampsia 24 hours, lots of tests, and a good dress rehearsal later I was discharged with my delivery date moved up a week with lots of monitoring hence why I have been here all damn day! one of my babies doesn't want to cooperate with any of the tests they are running so I'm stuck
i learned a lot in that time at the hospital - 1 i'm fearless and strong 2 my husband is fcking amazing under pressure 3 babies are in great shape and would thrive outside in the world at this point 4 my hospital and doctors are the best of the best
we are ready for these babies whether it's this tuesday or a week from then i wasn't sure we would make it this far so whatever happens now, i am ready for it
this wkend - if they let me go home i will be napping, putting the final touches on the nursery, having my maybe-final adults only brunch, cleaning and just getting ready for a whole new world
have a great two days everyone!

this weekend i'm gonna rely on my friends to lift my spirits and keep me laughing and remind me that there is still joy to be found.
life is good and love is good and god is good...y'all have fun & be safe this weekend, mmkay? :D
