12719131, How far should religious freedom extend?
Posted by John Forte, Thu Feb-05-15 09:18 AM
The right to be a public health risk? The right to discriminate? Exemption from laws of the land?
12719133, as far as it does currently.
Posted by SoWhat, Thu Feb-05-15 09:18 AM
12719142, It extends too far now
Posted by John Forte, Thu Feb-05-15 09:27 AM
12719146, How?

Posted by John Forte, Thu Feb-05-15 09:34 AM
exempting religious orgs and companies owned by religious people from employment laws.
12719169, what's the root of your anti-religion bias?

a religious "character".

Corporations are legal fictions designed for liability, finance and tax purposes. Nothing else.

Corporations should not have religious exemptions that allow it to discriminate in violation of the law.

That's why Hobby Lobby is so ridiculous to me.

We have discussed the prevention of allowing adults to read bibles at work

Posted by DaHeathenOne76, Thu Feb-05-15 10:04 AM
is persecuting Christians and hating God. I can see how you feel that way.

But if you recognize one in public you have to recognize all. And since its inconvenient for that none gets recognized.

I mean unless the majority people are okay with me making Ebbo before a sporting event..then lets do it

Heck you can not take vaccines if you want as long as you don't try to go to public schools and other public places where you might get others sick.

Your children are not your property. They did not elect your faith and they deserve the same protections that other children get.
12719218, Define protections. I don't think the state is in a better position than a
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Thu Feb-05-15 10:08 AM
parent to decide what's best for a person's children UNLESS that parent has patently proven themselves unfit to make such decisions.

Does not vaccinating your kid fall into the category of unfit to parent?

I don't think so. Even if it means your kid may get sicker from time to time and might not live as long. I'll admit that sounds harsh but I have a problem with the state deciding what's best for people and their kids. I will admit that I am not married to that POV and could be convinced otherwise if I learn some dangers of non-vaccination I am not aware of.

just as the state can dictate that kids have to go to school (of course the Amish get exemptions)
12719239, Agreed regarding public health. Hence my point about only if you don't
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Thu Feb-05-15 10:25 AM
go in public spaces.

Also the state can't make you go to school. Look at all those home school kids.

12719310, Religion and the State should not mix.
Posted by initiationofplato, Thu Feb-05-15 10:58 AM
Religion should be a private endeavour and pursuit with no political power.
