Their stances reflect a privileged upbringing filled full of wealth those of us that come from harsher circumstances dream about. The messed up part is their connection with the church is so strong that it ties into political beliefs. During the 2012 election I had words with a bishop because it felt like they pushed everyone to vote for Mitt Romney. You'd hear President Romney references in half the talks for six months leading up to and during the election.

Social connections found within the church fosters a culture that supports less than shall we say politically correct stances on everything. For example, you could say nose decongestants are cool but someone would tell you that you're in danger of becoming an addict.
