The US is better off doing the following:

Allow the "moderate" Middle Eastern nations to finally have it out with the extremists and countries that sponsor the likes of ISIS....There needs to be a full scale civil war in the Middle East...

Then let them pick up the pieces instead of treating them like children....The only obvious thing America needs to do is make sure they keep that crazy over there and keep an eye on Iran to make sure they r not going nuclear to create weapons....
