12713216, Doomsday Clock advanced 2 minutes this week. Now 11:57

EDIT for link: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doomsday_Clock

Closest to midnight since 30 years ago when the US put medium range missiles in Europe

First Russia invaded Ukraine and now we are revamping our arsenal 5 years after our President won the NPP for nuclear non-proliferation.

But that was only for one minute. The other minute was for humanity's total unwillingness to fight global warming.

Last time it was 11:58 people were building bomb shelters in their backyards.
12713221, oh okay.

now what?

12713241, i have no idea
Posted by cgonz00cc, Thu Jan-29-15 06:11 PM
Im not certain my lifespan will be entirely nuke free. There are some crazy seeming people in the world with nuclear weapons.

And being anti-environment is a plus politically in some circles. Which continues to be very weird to me

12713227, *shrug* we're all gonna die at some point anyway.
Posted by Damali, Thu Jan-29-15 05:50 PM
including this planet.

everything dies.

scares the hell outta me but it's true.

*sigh*

12713243, I was hoping we'd take turns, tho

Science, and all the feel good books and reports saying things are getting better so they have to be right guys? Guys? Hello?
12713486, so you don't actually listen to anything NDT says huh
Posted by astralblak, Fri Jan-30-15 12:06 AM
and again this is science telling us this, so what idiocy inception are you exploring
12713499, *watches top spin*
Posted by Atillah Moor, Fri Jan-30-15 12:40 AM
My bad wrong inception
12713745, you realize members of "Science" run this clock, right?
Posted by cgonz00cc, Fri Jan-30-15 10:08 AM
So you are basically telling a flat lie lol
12713782, Not all scientists think mankind can or is going to right itself
Posted by Atillah Moor, Fri Jan-30-15 10:23 AM
are you saying that because scientists created this clock which basically shows how close we are to destroying our world and or ourselves that these scientists must therefore be in support of the idea that we can save ourselves from our own corruptible, self destructive, nature? A nature even mathematics seems to support as being based on selfishness and not selflessness? I haven't lied about a thing.
12713821, you said Science says things are getting better.
Posted by cgonz00cc, Fri Jan-30-15 10:48 AM
That was a lie, because this group of prominent scientists just said things are more dangerous now than last year at this time

Thats the opposite of science saying that things are getting better.
12713988, We have a misunderstanding-- I have never been a proponent of that
Posted by Atillah Moor, Fri Jan-30-15 11:49 AM
Whenever I refer to science saying things are getting better I am in 100% sarcasm mode. It goes back to when Bloocollar was posting on here about how advances in science will improve human nature. There are some other folks who like to fly that flag as well, but not me.
12715134, LOL @ science improving human nature
Posted by Shaun Tha Don, Sat Jan-31-15 06:49 PM
when the science is dependent on the very same humans with a rather poor track record of controlling their own nature for its practice. Bloocollar and other seem to have forgotten that science is only as the people practicing it.
12715254, scientists are the ones saying to wake up
Posted by osu_no_1, Sun Feb-01-15 10:01 AM
It's these other fools trying to spend less on research like space travel that will eventually be the only way humanity survives.

Scientists see that unless people wake up, we are going to destroy this planet someday, and are trying to find ways out
