The distinction between regions is the skill at masking/refracting it.
In the south (outside of major cities), cats give no damns. And in a way, that makes (some of) them less racist and more just xenophobic.
As for the greatest concentration of intensely racist thinking...follow White Flight™. In my area, that will be the ring of suburbs one level past the ring of suburbs that surround Atlanta. Follow the demographic shifts of the last 20 years in other metro areas nationwide, and you'll see similar patterns, within context.
