12699593, How heavy is your bike?
Posted by MEAT, Thu Jan-15-15 11:09 AM
I'm seriously about to try to spend on a bike. But not SPEND.
Those DC hills are brutal though.
From downtown to Silver Spring is gonna be rough so if I can cut some lbs from myself as well as the bike, I'll be a happy man.
12699601, Mine is a mountain bike. Prolly 35lbs.
Posted by WarriorPoet415, Thu Jan-15-15 11:11 AM
but from downtown to Silver Spring, you can take the Crescent Trail which is like gradually inclined. Not bad at all if you are a regular biker. And there is the Metropolitan Branch Trail that runs to silver spring.

Typical road bike should be no more than 30lbs and you should be fine.

$2500 new. If I were doing it again I might have bought an old cannondale or something. A nice frame and decent wheels can be had for sub $1000 I'm sure.
