I had this exact convo with one of my paisa neighbors a long while back and she agreed with me. Shared a story about her Argentine father almost starting a fight over his "right to tip".
We will tip in America but not do it back home.
Maybe this is a more recent development but I wouldn't feel the same shame there that I would here if I didn't tip.
