I got a teacher friend. She teaches 6th grade. In the hood. She white. Anyway i don't know why i told y'all that yes i do so u can prejudge but her whiteness aint got shit to do with this anyway

She allowed a male student to go to the bathroom at 10:00am

She allowed a female student to go to the bathroom at 10:05 am

Male and female student get caught banging it out in the girls bathroom

The kids were suspended

AND SO WAS MY HOMEGIRL

tawnbout no supervision or whatever.

Do you think it's right that she got suspended too?

Posted by Geah, Thu Jan-15-15 11:25 AM

12699603, she let 2 students leave class damn near at the same time
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Jan-15-15 11:13 AM
12699677, It's a school, not a prison
Posted by stattic, Thu Jan-15-15 11:45 AM
12699701, wtf does that mean? lol
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Jan-15-15 11:59 AM
whether male/female or same sex, if you let 2 kids from your classroom leave at the same time bad things can happen.

If I left the room and 2 minutes later my friend leaves.. we gonna more than likely going to run the halls.

If you let me leave and then let my boo leave 2 minutes later.... we gonna get in some trouble.

and lets be real... schools are a lot more like prisons these days for obvious reasons.

12699723, lol what about 2 kids from different classes? how do you stop that?
Posted by Cenario, Thu Jan-15-15 12:11 PM
all through elementary and jhs i remember there being a boys pass and a girls pass and they could both be out at the same time.
12700408, 2 kids from different classes meeting up isn't on the teachers...

i remember (while in different classes), "you get a pass at 11:42 and I will too and let's meet by the lockers" but that was in high school and there was no bangin' but i digress...

also depends on how long they were gone.

12699612, kids spend a great deal of time 'outsmarting' adults

or at least we did growin up

especially teachers

if they were gone for an extended period of time then i can see the teacher being blamed if she aint check on em...even then the damage already done.

other than that
nah

the kids knew what they were doin
12699613, I am so old but the notion of asking permission to go to the bathroom
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Thu Jan-15-15 11:17 AM
sounds so crazy to me.

Are there any schools anywhere that are so progressive they don't have rules like that?

Most classes at my elementary (K-6 back then, lol) had bathrooms in the classrooms, so that thing right there was a no-go.

It did make for some good laughs tho, when we'd hear somebody go in there and drop the lid, or if somebody had the bubble guts, lol

... and then realises how badly it could've gone (or in this case DID go) and remembers to say "You can go when Lil' Johnny has come back" for the rest of their career.

It's not foul enough for suspension IMHO, but it is pretty fucking stupid. It's the sort of thing we'd pull on substitute teachers but anyone with a regular teaching gig should be wise to this sort of shit. Kids are devious as fuck and lacking in adult consequences... you've got to assume they're ALWAYS trying to get one over on you.
12699621, yep, she gotta go
Posted by atruhead, Thu Jan-15-15 11:19 AM
obviously my memory is foggy, but I dont ever remember more than one student allowed to leave class at a time

Posted by DaHeathenOne76, Thu Jan-15-15 01:11 PM
Matter of fact if too many people asked to go then class stopped and we all went.

It was Catholic school tho but even when I went to public school, teachers would give you the "chile please" look if you tried to leave after your homie left.

However, there are rules in place that you cannot deny "bathroom" visits because there may be a health issue even if its documented.

Lawsuits man.

She's pending suspension. Written up definitely

the boy asked to go because he felt sick.

the girl hit her with the "My momma said if i gotta go and the teacher say no get up and walk out"

she initially told the girl no

they were slick bout it

spaced it 5 mins out

as a parent, if something injurious happened to your child while in school
would you accept a damned teacher saying

she is responsible.
of what?
that's for the school
but she can't just hold her hands up on some
"it ain't my fault."
if they had vandalized the building, same thing.
12699976, you said as soon as gal got up, she should have been on her heels.
Posted by Cenario, Thu Jan-15-15 02:26 PM
and did what? you can't touch a kid so if they wanna leave, they can leave.
12699996, been on her heels = taking action...

12700034, and did what?

you can't touch the kid so you ain't stopping a damn thing.
12700502, i doubt the girl would've gone to bang it out if the teacher had
Posted by SoWhat, Fri Jan-16-15 10:13 AM
followed her into the hallway and yelled or threatened to report her to the higher-ups for walking out of the classroom.

but then maybe the teacher can't leave a class full of kids unsupervised either.

rock and hard place there.

which may be why she was written up but not suspended.
12699836, I remember a teacher saying
Posted by DaHeathenOne76, Thu Jan-15-15 01:14 PM
"If you walk out youre getting suspended"
Squashed all that my momma said

Some parents be on some bullshit sometimes. Undermining the teachers authority quite a bit.

For instance cell phones. . . you know how many times Ive gotten cussed out behind a cell phone. Why does an adult need to call a child in K-^ during class time?? HELP ME PARENTS??!!

you leave
you minus well keep walkin.
12700029, That can get real sketchy, b/c if the parent raises enough hell...
Posted by Starbaby Jones, Thu Jan-15-15 03:08 PM
to the right people, the kid ain't getting suspended for going to the bathroom. There's not a lot of recourse for non-violent insubordination.
12700505, i'd be ready to deal w/that hell.
Posted by SoWhat, Fri Jan-16-15 10:15 AM
i mean if the kid walked out and didn't go get dug out in the restroom but came back to class after having actually relieved themselves.

they'd be sent to the principal. and if i had to deal w/a mad parent i would. i'd have no trouble defending my action and would expect back-up from the admin. but even if i didn't get it i'd be ready for that fight.

they gon' respeck my authoritah. i don't play that dumb shit.

12699766, if i remember correctly we had designated times to go to the bathroom
Posted by southphillyman, Thu Jan-15-15 12:37 PM
like all the boys go at 11:30 am and the teacher stands outside
we use to have all our fights in there, so i know more than one kid was allowed to go at once
12699807, Typically, there's only 1 pass per class.
Posted by Sha, Thu Jan-15-15 01:01 PM

12699968, I never understood suspending kids from school as a punishment
Posted by bentagain, Thu Jan-15-15 02:17 PM
They'll probably be smashing on the daily during their little vacation

There has to be a better way to punish kids than making them stay home

as far as the teacher

I don't know about suspending her

but she definitely should have known better

how did the kids get caught?
12699985, Its not really to punish the kid.
Posted by Cenario, Thu Jan-15-15 02:32 PM
ITs to get them to change their behavior and to 'protect the school'. If a kid is suspended especially before hs, the parent has to make arrangements for someone to watch them. That usually frustrates, upsets the parents and encourages them to deal with their childs behavior.

It protects the school in the sense that it shows that they took some disciplinary action and the school doesn't have to worry about the kid doing the same damn thing the next day. Hopefully, time away will give a kid time to think about his behavior, cool off if it was a fight, etc. Its usually 2 suspensions and you're out. A kid doing the same major offense in short succession would not be a good look for the school.

I agree tho that a better punishment for the child would be a detention type setting.
