12695765, What Kendrick said is cliched & lacked perspective Posted by The Letter L, Mon Jan-12-15 02:52 AM
Its like when people bring up black on black crime as if its only unique to black folks When in reality violence is common in all communities & nations regardless of race.
As many have pointed out, respecting or disrespecting yourself has nothing to do with racism That’s what makes it racism in the first place – that you’re being treated one way regardless of how you actually behave.
The notion that blacks need to love & respect themselves isnt unique to the black experience either All people need to love & respect themselves, blacks arent the only ones dealing with some form of self-hate
I say all of this because too many blacks buy into these cliched narratives which are true, but they mislead you to believe that the problem is you & if you fix these problems everything else will fall in line
No, the problem is being enslaved & being treated inhumane for hundreds of years, The problem is losing culture & history, The problem is assimilating to a foreign way of life, The problem is trying to prosper in a foreign land amongst a people & government that views you less than equal
In short, the problem is the oppressor & his infrastructure of institutionalized racism
Always has & always will be
Its like that line from the Usual Suspects: "The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist."
And thats exactly whats going on The oppressor has flipped the narrative & got blacks believing theyre the cause of their own misery
Its some wickedly brilliant pimp shit
