12694373, Sneakerheads: Shoes you wish they'd re-issue????
Posted by PROMO, Fri Jan-09-15 01:42 PM
This post is spawned by my constant wondering of why Nike has re-issued EVERY Air Max from 1988-1999 EXCEPT the Air Max '96 which is MY second favorite Air Max ever. They kept the colors really clean which allowed the design to be kinda wild.

What shoes do you pine over...praying they'll someday be re-issued?

Almost ever Fieg shoe is dope.
12694871, I think he is slightly overrated, personally
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Fri Jan-09-15 10:40 PM
Some of his shit is cool but some shit from Sneaker Freaker or Villa or Concepts or whatever is cool, too. i thought those black with suede (teal, brick) pumas were fresh. he has done some cool asics collabs. one thing i give him is that he doesn't get into a rut, wide variety of approaches and colors to a lot of different types of shoes. Usually they at least come out respectable, I mean you see what he was shooting for. I don't know that all that equals the kind of prices his stuff commands often though.

I did get a pair of those Support 93s he just did. Philadelphia Union colors. I like that shoe in general, I got the Micropacer, Packer and tent green ones also.

i used to rock the hell out of them joints too. I think they released them again after that. My feet are too wide now for them.

I always liked the joints with the purple strap

12694679, i think i asked you if you knew where to find those in yellow or grey
Posted by southphillyman, Fri Jan-09-15 04:43 PM
the ones without the bubble
there needs to be some kind of online database for every major shoe released
finding these shits might be easier if ppl knew the exact names and specifications
12694866, yeah i totally forgot about that
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Fri Jan-09-15 10:30 PM
the OG ones had zoom air but they did those ones with the huge ass bubble. they also did a terra minot with a huge bubble

if ever a giant air bag made ZERO sense, it's on a trail shoe lol. but they looked cool.
12694881, great collection of trail shoes here:
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Fri Jan-09-15 10:59 PM
i have only the photo blue/yellow and black/red ones pictured, at one point i had all of these.

http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=mbpa2v&s=4

more recently i thought the air zoom morizaba was a great trail runner. right there with mizuno's trail stuff for comfort.

the abasi was an interesting shoe also, they were part sneaker and part boot but without the annoying heft and rigid heel counter of shoes like the Air Max Goadome and all those weird Foamposite boots. IMO Under Armour's boots are a lot better as that goes, but whatever. Terra Arktos was an OK Nike effort, I thought they were an odd mix though and way overpriced at retail.
12694908, The yellow shoes on the second step,
Posted by kajsidog, Fri Jan-09-15 11:51 PM
I had lowtop gray versions of them. Loved those shoes. So comfy and the rubber spikes on the forefoot made it feel like I could run up walls. Awesome on trails, weirdly squishy at first on pavement, ha ha.

Do you remember what they were called? I thought they were Goatek but apparently that was a whole other line.
12694939, That is the Terra Sertig. The purple lows are the same shoe essentially
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sat Jan-10-15 02:03 AM
They were called the Terra Albis but had the same tooling, so they would be a low top with that same feel you liked. They had a real cool heel-toe transition and yeah they were real grippy. Super clean.
12694537, dumb question. why does sneaker head = nike head?
Posted by double negative, Fri Jan-09-15 03:12 PM
12694542, it does not
Posted by GriftyMcgrift, Fri Jan-09-15 03:14 PM
there is a huge swath of sneaker heads that rock almost exclusively new balance and asics

but since nike is the historical sneaker of record(sorry converse) they will be more prevalent
12694622, who said that?
Posted by PROMO, Fri Jan-09-15 04:00 PM
i mean, if you really like sneakers but you ONLY wear/buy/like Nike then you don't REALLY like sneakers.
12694678, i don't think u can claim "sneakerhead" w/o Nikes, but
Posted by TRENDone, Fri Jan-09-15 04:42 PM
i don't think you're a "sneakerhead" if all you got is Nikes & Jordans.
12694749, not at all, they just have the lion's share of the market
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Fri Jan-09-15 05:48 PM
my cousin is a huge sneakerhead and he stopped buying nikes years ago. he wears all reebok, asics, new balance, etc.
12694562, I'm not a sneaker head... but...
Posted by Hitokiri, Fri Jan-09-15 03:28 PM
I really wish I would've bought more than one pair of the Puma Palmas when I bought them. I got a pair at Footlocker, and then like 4-5-6 month later I went back to see if I could grab another and they didn't have 'em. My internet research basically confirmed that they were mostly a European release.

http://thumbs4.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mFwe0sr_82wShPYRll_Vcqw.jpg

And

I was also a big fan of the Nike Fleet Center (lows). Came out at kinda the height of all white forces. I couldn't rock those, because EVERYONE had them, so I opted for the Fleet Centers from Nike 20 collection. I think I ended up going through 3-4 pairs of those.

12694667, Virtually none because the retros now are such poor quality (Nike only)
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Fri Jan-09-15 04:34 PM
I mean take some cool ones they have done recently such as the Air Bakin, Air Total Uptempo, Air Griffey (originals), Flite Lite, etc.

Not only is the quality extremely poor and the technology pared down from the ORIGINAL shoes, it's pared down from previous retros they did, too!

Now, IF they ever get back to actually making shit the way it's supposed to be, of course I have a long ass list (the asterisk means I have an OG pair still):

Air Max Deluxe*
Air Max Battle Force*
Air Aggress Force
Air Burst* and Air Burst 2
Air Assailant*
Air Zoom Pounce
Air Zoom Challenge I and II **
Air Vis Zoom Uptempo*
Air Team Max Zoom*
Air Zoom GP
Air Hawk Flight*
Zoom Flight 1.0*
Air Pippen IV*
Air Money
Air Max Cover
Air Zoom Open Field*
Air Zoom Turf 97
Air Max Streak
Air Zoom Equilibrium*
Air Zoom Drive
Air Zoom Seismic*
Air MZ3*
Air Perseus*
Air Zoom JST*
Sock Racer (imagine a Flyknit version, too!)
Air Swoopes
Air Total Max L9
Air Worm (and other NDESTRUKT products)
Air Flight '89 High (had OG pairs that fell apart!)
Air Triax '96
Air Vomero 3 and 4* (still a little recent)
Air Total Max CB4* (criminal that these have not be done)
Air Max 2003 (sort of brought back already)*
LeBron II and III**
Kobe II and Kobe II ST **

12694673, Jordans 1-7 w/ the original Nike tags minus the premium price.

Posted by handle, Fri Jan-09-15 05:10 PM
The New Balance 1521 trail running sneakers were the best shoe New Balance ever made for the trail.

I'd gladly buy them whenever they are re-issued.

Picture of them: http://d3h8jq5eeqfpht.cloudfront.net/images/extra_large/2-mo1521_04_el.jpg
12694711, yeah, same. I'd kill for a pair of Air Flight 55's.

best hoop shoe I ever played in.

i don't even think a picture of them exists on the internet.
12694753, I find often that that kind of stuff is disappointing
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Fri Jan-09-15 05:51 PM
You find the OG pair and it's falling apart. They retro it and it's not the same. Or, a lot of times, it comes back and you realize your fondness for it had more to do with something other than the shoe. Or that you were so young, your feet could feel good in just about anything. Like at age 14, I loved playing in some Grant Hill Filas. Less so at age 30.
12694878, i feel you.
Posted by PROMO, Fri Jan-09-15 10:50 PM
i definitely still love AM90's but they don't fit so nice on my feet as they once did so i have to wear them more sparingly.

12694891, Nike Kukini 2003 - Great running shoe.
Posted by kajsidog, Fri Jan-09-15 11:20 PM
http://files.coloribus.com/files/adsarchive/part_556/5569205/file/nike-footwear-kukini-small-39235.jpg

I loved running in 2003 Nike Kukinis (velcro straps and holes in the sole.) Light, cool, even felt breezes while wearing them. I would pick them up for $30-40 at outlets, buying all they had in my size. Used to scour ebay and snatch them to destroy also. This included a few one-off colors and even prototypes (which fell apart quicker). After paying about $150 for a pair from England I decided it was time to find a new running shoe.

That said I really love running in Flyknit Free's for the same reason and no laces is even easier than velcro.
12694938, those were cool but totally overlooked
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sat Jan-10-15 02:01 AM
like we will see the OG Kukinis (and weird offshoots thereof) and the air presto multiple times before we see those. i liked those, i really liked those. i had the ones that were white/gray/blue. so light. saucony's kinvara line feels sort of similar.
12694732, I've been pretty lucky these past few years.
Posted by JFrost1117, Fri Jan-09-15 05:31 PM
Nike has been strolling through my childhood with the re-releases. The Air Diamond Turfs, the Junior Seau joints, etc.

When I cop retro J's, it's because I never ever asked my parents for them when I was a kid. I knew my mom couldn't really afford to keep up with them as quickly as they dropped, and my dad calls "setting goals" what I call "jumping through hoops". All that said, I want every pair of XI's, and I'd love if they retro'd the XVI's and a few of the OG XII colorways.

Last year was a "sport blue" year, but I'd like them to do a Flint/French Blue year, just so I can get back my XIII's that I donated, thinking they would retro again soon. I donated the 04/05 Bred and Flint XIII's like a dummy.

I still have almost all of these but would love to replace them with a freshly made pair:

New Balance 2002, a spectacular shoe (they did 2000 and 2001 already, which were cheaper).

New Balance BB880 (done once but another round with more colors please).

Asics Gel Kayano 3-4-5 (lots of the other models run together).

Asics Ichiro trainer

Fila Ship (CWebb)

Reebok Answer II

Reebok Answer V

Reebok Reign Man

Reebok Rush

Reebok DMX RXT (loved those)

Reebok Shaq Steel

Reebok Shaq Preacher

Reebok Shaq Dunkmob

Adidas Real Deal II (such a distinct shoe, love it)

Adidas Kobe III (they did a half assed, one-color retro)

Adidas Equipment Harmony and Harmony 2

Adidas Equipment Gazelle

Adidas Eqt Extreme Fast

Adidas Eqt Salvation (I bought these two sizes too big, DGAF)

Adidas Eqt Mercury

Adidas Eqt Vapor

I dunno, as you can see I am a sucker for most things with the Feet You Wear outsole. Some I just forget the model names. I would also love to see Adidas boxing shoes become a thing people wore.

These were so comfortable and different than anything else I'd seen at that time. They were Agassi's but I just dug the look and feel. Low to the ground but cushioned. Glove fit. Loops for laces. Light. Loved mid-90s Nike.

Jordan apparently dug them too: http://solefreshsoleclean.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/1995_nikeairchallengelwp_agassi_offcourt.jpg?w=620&h=400

I just recently sold a cobalt pair of these from childhood that didn't fit. I always dug the strap lacing system. Quick and easy to fine tune. I think they sold for about $80 well used. I couldn't find many pictures of my color, these are the same model though: http://sneakernews.com/2011/03/31/nike-air-huarache-plus-94-og-pair-on-ebay/

Yeah, those are sick. Adidas has so many great potential releases if they are willing to use good materials and take risks.

They did the black/red 16s and then a black/red 18 (not a retro color) for those Countdown Packs. For some reason they seem hesitant to retro the post-Jordan Jordans. I guess they did the XV but so far no individual releases of the 16 and up. I think 16, 17 and 18 should come soon though.

I have some leather boots with the crepe sole and a few pairs of wallabees. So comfortable. They also make some cool ones with a sneaker sole like the Traxter

12695482, You know they did a sort of updated 96?
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sun Jan-11-15 01:27 PM
If I remember correctly it had the 360 unit in the heel only. They did the black/white/concord color from the OGs, not sure about the obsidian/green ones. I had the latter in OGs. I don't know, I thought they were pretty poorly engineered. Like they knocked you forward into the toe box and it wasn't wide enough. I thought the 97s had a really shitty fit, too, though they looked cooler and it was fixed in the spinoffs (98s, Air Max Deluxe, etc)

I am sure it is just a matter of time before they do the OG 96s and 96 B though. I thought the 96 B (I think that's what it was called) had cleaner colors.

Also to my knowledge they haven't retroed the Air Max 99, which I would love to add to my list of stuff I wish would come back. I bought some OG pairs but they were a disaster, Polyurethane everywhere. DS but clearly not suitable for wear; some stuff just didnt hold up well

there was also a B version

12695487, You know what held up well but wasn't popular? Tuned Air
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sun Jan-11-15 01:35 PM
At one point Nike had circulated rumors that they were going to replace their standard Air technology with ALL tuned Air. Yet they pretty well abandoned the project within two years, and they abandoned it entirely (unlike Shox, which just sort of fell back). For a long time they didn't even do proper reissues of these:

http://www.etoday.ru/uploads/2012/01/31/AirMaxPlus_1998_04-thumb-620x400-193883.jpg

I got some OG pairs of these and in contrast to most regular Air Maxes their age, they have held up very well throughout the shoe

http://sneakernews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/nike-air-tuned-max-og.jpg

I actually thought that the technology was better for basketball shoes, much better.

I picked up a pair of these recently and they also have held up way better than their Air Max counterparts

This was the pinnacle of Tuned Air IMHO, great shoe, I still have a couple pairs:

And there were the original ones and the Swoopes, too

12695501, They re-released those a couple different times
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sun Jan-11-15 02:04 PM
They sort of staggered some re-releases in the early 2000s. I remember I got a white/red patent pair that was real smooth. They also did OG colors (black/navy, black, white/navy).There were some other new colors too like white/silver and white/royal/neon. It seemed like the releases were spaced over a couple years. They did not call them the Air Max CW anymore because he was under contract with some other brand. They were called the Air Max Sensation, but it was the exact same shoe. Adidas does that with Kobe's stuff, Nike did it with KG's also, etc.

Later they did an updated version, also called the Sensation 2011 (may have had 360 in the title somewhere). This was actually a great shoe for basketball. It had a lot of the OG stylistic elements but with more mesh in the upper and a full-length Air Max 360 sole. I got an all black pair and I play in them all the time, one of the few non-Under Armour shoes I wear regularly now.

12695497, I can't believe I forgot about the T Bug, Big Flyer and Air Max High Up
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sun Jan-11-15 02:00 PM
T Bug was a cool shoe, in the mild of the Flight Hawk (GP) and Zoom Flight 1.0 for sure. It's a shame they never did another Tim Hardaway shoe.

Big Flyer, as I mentioned in the other post, was such a great shoe. I wish they would have made the High Top PEs in smaller sizes, smallest I ever saw was a 13.5 (and yet I still bought it lol).

Overall I think the 3/4 length Air Max (or in that case, Tuned Air) with the Zoom Forefoot was a great setup. I wish it would come back today. The Air Max High Up might have been the best for that, what an awesome shoe with rich, full-grain leather uppers and that smooth 3.0 cushioning setup. I am not holding my breath for those to come back though, but you can find OG pairs. I have four and they are all in great shape from age, three DS pairs and one I wore a few times.
12695498, i buy 2 pair of Barkley's when they come out

12695811, Those just came back out for the second (third) time.
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Mon Jan-12-15 08:59 AM
They did a retro release around 2004 that included the OG Fab 5 black/lapis (or whatever the fuck that purplish blue shit was, hot), the ones pictured, a white/black/yellow pair, etc.

Recently they did the ones you posted and an approximation of the black/blue ones, I am sure many strange colors to follow. I don't know how the quality is on the ones that came out real recently but the first round of retros was very true-to-OG.
12700052, a re-release of the re-release of the Pippens

12700077, This would be a re-release of a re-release of a re-release
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Thu Jan-15-15 03:55 PM
They did one round of retros that was pretty much true to the OG, including the volume of the Air unit. Then they did another one--including all those fucking hideous colorways--that had a smaller bubble.

Personally I don't think history has been kind to these. I had high hopes for them and the Air Max Uptempo 3 (essentially the same tooling) but they were both shit. Incredibly heavy, astonishingly slippery and they had all these fucked-up decorative elements that served no purpose but to fall apart (all the plastic shit on both models).

I think the OG Pippen colors (white/silver and black/white/red, I guess the white/navy Foot Action ones, too) looked pretty cold at least.

12700275, I liked those and some of the DMX 6 models, but I doubt they return

Reebok seems hung up on having an athlete attached to their retros, which I guess makes sense.
12700798, Jordan XVI's
Posted by Vega Incognito, Fri Jan-16-15 12:20 PM
Highs in either color. Always liked them.
12700826, They did the black/red ones in the countdown pack. Others to follow
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Fri Jan-16-15 12:34 PM
I have had several OG pairs but all have had structural flaws that have kept me from wearing them. Those didn't wear well. I am 100% certain the black/red, white/navy and cherrywood pairs will come back, maybe gingers, too. I hope to see some new colorways, too.

The XVI would be one of my very favorite Jordans, except for the gaitors or shrouds or whatever the fuck they are called. The shoe only looks cool with them on it, but it feels super weird to put them on.

I thought the 16.5--XVI upper with XVII tooling--looked pretty nice with no shroud, and it also was not as flimsy. Much better shoe for hoops, but lacked the aesthetic WOW factor of the shrouded up XVIs for sure.
12700840, Not a sneakerhead but would love these:
