bundling should be a choice
12691258, XBMC is your answer.
Posted by initiationofplato, Tue Jan-06-15 03:53 PM
It's a bit tricky to set up, however, it will provide you with every live channel, every live sporting event, pay per view or not, all tv-shows, movies, and music.

XBMC was developed for XBOX and abandoned by Microsoft, at which point it became open source and was forged into the best streaming service there is.

I use it at home and I love it. Oh yeah, it has everything that is on Netflix as well.

12691261, Fo free?
Posted by PimpTrickGangstaClik, Tue Jan-06-15 03:55 PM
12691297, Yes, and legal, since you are not downloading anything to keep.
Posted by initiationofplato, Tue Jan-06-15 04:22 PM
12691327, now it ain't exactly legal..
Posted by Fishgrease, Tue Jan-06-15 04:46 PM
12691422, it's not illegal to stream :)
Posted by initiationofplato, Tue Jan-06-15 06:42 PM
as far as i know.
12691452, the program isn't illegal, the add-ons and the streaming of paid content is....
Posted by Fishgrease, Tue Jan-06-15 07:18 PM
but that hasn't stopped me
12691469, Using it as we speak. Just saw Foxcatcher
Posted by initiationofplato, Tue Jan-06-15 07:51 PM
now watching A Walk Among The Tombstones. Pretty good so far.
12692231, you don't think it's illegal to watch a streamed bootleg of a film
Posted by b.Touch, Wed Jan-07-15 01:42 PM
still in theaters?

Granted, the person doing the streaming would be in more trouble than you, but you could still very well be ceased & desisted if your ISP cared enough.
12692264, Clicking on links is illegal?
Posted by initiationofplato, Wed Jan-07-15 01:58 PM
I'm sorry, I don't know the ins and outs on this, but it seems the person hosting and providing the service would be the one they go after instead of the millions of users who simply click. You are also not in possession of the file when you stream.
12692272, accessing unauthorized files via unauthorized services is illegal
Posted by b.Touch, Wed Jan-07-15 02:04 PM
if you download only enough megs to buffer for smooth playback or the whole thing.

The sites you speak of are generally all pirate sites that advertise themselves as offering illegal streams or downloads. Like I said, the site owners would get into more trouble than the users, but your ISP could very well issue a cease-and-desist for accessing those sites.

And yes, clicking on links can be illegal, for multitudes of other reasons beyond just watching bootlegged movies.
12692238, that is not how that works.
Posted by b.Touch, Wed Jan-07-15 01:44 PM
12692265, Can you break it down?
Posted by initiationofplato, Wed Jan-07-15 01:58 PM
12692275, If you're not watching a movie or a program on a site
Posted by b.Touch, Wed Jan-07-15 02:08 PM
where the content owner themselves has authorized it to be located, you're accessing an illegal stream and depriving that content provider of revenue needed to pay for said content. It doesn't matter if it's content from a big company or a single person; the copyright laws work the same in this case as far as proper vs improper access is concerned.

If you would like to watch a movie or program without paying for it, you should wait for it to come on broadcast television. If you want to see something but are low on money, you can wait until it becomes available for rental. Redbox movies are only $1.50 each; digital rentals are a little more.

Like I said, this can be tricky. It took me a couple of hours of troubleshooting and watching YouTube videos, but trust me, it is worth it. It is basically a giant repository of all streaming media at your finger tips.

Step 1 - Download - XBMC

http://xbmc.org/download/

Step 2 - Get Familiar with the concepts:

Step 3 - Install Fusion & Mashup Video Plugin

12691322, Good luck!
Posted by initiationofplato, Tue Jan-06-15 04:40 PM
Like I said, it's not that easy because it's open source and developed by users. So sometimes things don't go according to plan. Let me know if you get stuck on anything.

A buddy of mine hooked up his TV to his XBMC setup and doesn't pay for any tv at all anymore. All you need is the internet. XBMC also tracks what you have watched so it's easy to watch an entire show without getting confused about the episodes. It also has a resume feature incase your power goes out or something, from the exact time it got cut off.
12691333, is mashup back up?...the creator was issued a cease and desist letter not
Posted by Fishgrease, Tue Jan-06-15 04:49 PM
too long ago. I used to follow him on twitter and he shut sh*t down when the feds sent him some mail. he pushed an update to the repo that shut sh*t down.

to get it back you had to go through install a version of the repository before the update push was released and even then not everything was workin' like before.
12691356, wow really, had no idea

Also, if you ever find that buffering is taking too long, find a video on YouTube on how to clear your cache and you're good.

Have fun!

Dish Network is launching Sling TV, a cheaper "over-the-top" (OTT) Internet TV service. For $20 a month customers can get channels like ESPN, Food Network, HGTV, TNT, CNN and TBS without paying for a full package.

Sounds like just what you're looking for

i throw AWL this shit to chromecast (best $25 i ever spent) - works like a dream with localcast app

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.stefanpledl.localcast&hl=en

can't even begin to list all the shit i've watched since

as for the sports i dunno, cable-cutting sports lovers took a big blow when wiziwig went down recently (on new years day no less)

i love streaming xbmc (w/fusion & genesis) to the chromecast - but i HATE the interface on the android, everything is tiny as fuck & i got big hands.

i really just want google fiber, lol
12691456, Is that app better for casting than the Chromecast app?
Posted by Chanson, Tue Jan-06-15 07:29 PM

the cast screen option IS good to have & works way better than the cast screen option in windows (which still fucking blows imo) - i use it for xfinitygo (i got tha hook up! uuugggghhh!) and in case of emergency

the add on's that won't properly load in XBMC/TVMC, I'd be set.

I'm sure there's something Im not pointing to properly in the playercore.xml file. Schedule permitting, I'll work on it and adjust it all sometime this evening. It's just dealing with that adb client and ES File Explorer with the firestick remote and or phone app keyboard can be a bit cumbersome and requires more patience than I'm willing to throw at it considering. It's an easy task, it's just the steps to navigate to the user data files embedded in the android section of the FireTv stick is the issue. Then you find the file and realize that you didn't click on it to copy it to the new location---leaving you to have to do all the steps over again.

mp4 or dvd rip...I'm trying to play an xbmc extension that plays live network cable channels but some only load in an external browser (i.e, the Woody VLC file extensions). I can get them to play perfectly on an actual pc and/or android tablet but I can't get them to open on the FireTv stick. I'm thinkin' it's more of a hardware issue and the device not being able to open one program while another runs in the background (even if it's suspended as in most android based devices). I'll have it working soon if it's possible, I just haven't devoted an ample amount of time to the task at hand.
