12690754, Sounds like a good balance Posted by initiationofplato, Tue Jan-06-15 09:43 AM
>Like if I am working super hard or in a strange place for >work and have no access to sex, I watch porn. I wouldn't say a >lot of it, but a little every day. > >But then when I am in a normal groove where sex is pretty much >a daily thing, I don't watch it all. I don't miss it. >Similarly I do miss real sex and find myself more sensitive >when I get back to it. Now having a lot of sex desensitizes me >to sex a little, but usually a short break takes care of >that. > >I just don't find any diminished appetite for real human >intimacy because of porn. I am a firm believer in moderation. I study Zen Budhism from time to time and there is a portion of it which promotes rascality. It is exactly what it sounds like. A well balanced human being is good; physically and mentally dedicated to promoting/maintaining their health, with a touch of the rascal in his/her soul.
I used to watch a lot more pornography and I started to feel some of the negative effects discussed in the talk I posted. The problem with something like porn, or anything else which provides so much pleasure is that it can consume you and send you on a path where your mind and body can become enchanted/transfixed by it. You raise the personal bar on self satisfaction and if you do not meet it after prolonged use, it becomes difficult to settle into a more content and peaceful state.
A little "bad" is good for the soul. Too much and you start to compromise yourself in the name of fixation.
