It's a great documentary and if anyone's ever wondered why black folks in general are not fans of the police this might shed some light on that. It was filmed by Stacy Peralta (early skateboard pioneer) which is pretty cool as well.

i had looked it up when i saw your reply, and came up empty
the Gangland Wild Boyz episode was pretty good. about a reservation in South Dakota. The level of unemployment and alcoholism (aside from the gang shit) was pretty crazy.

I know I've seen it though, but yeah, I couldn't find any record of it online. I hadn't seen the Wild Boyz joint, but I'd bet it's similar. I didn't know they had gay Native American gangs, though.

i recall a few of us talking about this one and a couple of other gang docs a few years back in relation to a discussion about what gangs do positive and negative to communities they are part of .

That Watts story is powerful though, but I love how they were ready to go toe to toe over that shit. One camp calls it a riot while the other calls it guerrilla warfare. The end bit me hard too though with all those moms who lost their children. That was real moving stuff.
