there is no concept of difference without deference. the company line is "everyone is the same and should be treated the same," when it should be "everyone is different but should be treated with the same respect."

this is one example. another one is any sort of genetic difference or proclivity toward athletic aptitude. people seem to think that if we acknowledge those genetic differences, it'll open the door for some eugenics argument or emphasizing genetic differences in other areas (e.g. types of intelligence). again the problem there is that understanding the general doesn't have to extrapolate to the specific.
