12679940, Weird Familial Trends
Posted by Lardlad95, Thu Dec-18-14 04:26 PM
Are there any weird trends in your family? Like everyone's name starts with a certain letter (all of my siblings, except for my 1 half sibling, have names that start with the same letter), or all the women in your family are light but the men are all dark, or some shit like that.

For my family it's pretty much a given that the men date/marry older women.

I'm not sure how the fuck that got started, but my dad, all of my uncles, and my brother are married to older women. My grandfathers and great uncles, the exact same thing. At the moment I'm talking to a woman from work who's about 7 years my senior and I have a date with a woman who is 9 years older than me next week.

What's weird is that shit isn't intentional. I'm not going out of my way to date older women, and I've dated women younger than me...it's just how this shit works out.

Okay enough about me, I want to get into your weird family traits.

12679941, my Dad and my Mom's late Dad got the same name

I never wanted to dive too deep into that.
12679948, Could just be a coincidence, or you're descended from Carnies.

12680008, 2 and they both involve the women

the first:
starting with my greatgrandmother, the first daughters in any particular generation would always get pregnant/become a young mother with the succeeding generation bearing kids a year older
i.e.
bisabuela had abuelita at 17
abuelita had my oldest uncle at 18
my mom had me at 19
I got pregnant at 20 but miscarried.
I ended the cycle as I'm now 30 with no children

now the other pattern is
somehow the American born or raised girls end up associating with the Bronx somehow
I started that trend when I moved out of my mother's house at 19 to live with my then bf and his mom up there but I spent so much time there that it was like I lived there anyways.
when my cousin closest in age to me (5 years younger) ran from her dad's house, she went up there
then another cousin close in age ran up there too
my 19 year old cousin (5 years younger's little sister) is going to UPenn now and where is her man from?
take a wild guess.

We all must've been Bronxites in a past life, makes no sense otherwise.
12680180, Did anyone notice the trends at the time or did you guys think
Posted by Lardlad95, Thu Dec-18-14 08:19 PM
nothing of the fact that all of you women ended up with some cat from the Bronx/going to the Bronx until someone pointed it out to you?

Except they lived about 5 minutes from each other since 1970, and never fully divorced. They'd go from fake cordial to "Well, nigga FUCK YOU!" Within minutes.
12680314, interesting

12680181, That's an excellent point. I can't help but think X-men when I hear mutant.

.
12680249, i guess they chop the extra one off?
Posted by KiloMcG, Thu Dec-18-14 09:57 PM
is it real little compared to the other fingers? this is really interesting, never heard of it before especially like how it happens in your family.
12680256, the fingers were nearly half the size of pinky -
Posted by 2.tears.in.a.bucket, Thu Dec-18-14 10:07 PM

they tied string around the base of the finger - cuts the circulation off - and then they just fall of

pretty wild to find shriveled up fingers in the crib, but yeah - thats how its done
12680261, oh wow. what would happen if they left em?
Posted by KiloMcG, Thu Dec-18-14 10:10 PM
besides years of ridicule, of course. would they function as regular, albeit very little, fingers?

and the original handprints from the hospital, they got all 12 represented?

sorry if i'm asking too many questions, this is fascinating.
12680278, im sure they would've grown to be just that - regular (little) fingers
Posted by 2.tears.in.a.bucket, Thu Dec-18-14 10:35 PM

>and the original handprints from the hospital, they got all 12
>represented?

i'm familiar with the handprints, but i can't recall ever seeing my daughter's *feels like bad dad*

>sorry if i'm asking too many questions, this is fascinating.

12680281, haha
Posted by KiloMcG, Thu Dec-18-14 10:41 PM

>no sweat you're good - pinky swear. *rimshot*

and now that i think about it, do they do handprints or just footprints?

shit, am i a bad father too? haha
12680267, Lmao were you tempted to keep em?
Posted by Doronmonkflake, Thu Dec-18-14 10:21 PM

Posted by Doronmonkflake, Thu Dec-18-14 10:20 PM

Posted by 2.tears.in.a.bucket, Thu Dec-18-14 10:09 PM
12680259, The men get real lazy and docile and eventually runway
Posted by Nvncible1, Thu Dec-18-14 10:09 PM
The women get really strong and develop a boxy/ ex-linebacker shape.

sad but true.
12680321, pretty sure all but two members of my entire family are divorced
Posted by GriftyMcgrift, Fri Dec-19-14 02:05 AM
i have a super religous, wealthy uncle that is still married.

i also have this real kinda grungy hippy ex con uncle whos really really talented artistically. hes still with his common law wife. i guess thats a little ironic

12680683, Me, 1 of my brothers, and 2 uncles are all the same exact height
Posted by ambient1, Fri Dec-19-14 01:13 PM
12680690, There are hardly any normal-sized people.
Posted by Sepia., Fri Dec-19-14 01:19 PM
I don't even know how to tell a child's age by height because I'm so
used to kids that are a head taller than everyone in their class.

We're all tall. I have a sister that's 5'8" and that's still 4"
taller than average, and her son's 6'8" and still in high school.

Most of us have big hands (and feet) too. I'm so proud of my big piano hands, lol.
