were raised.
We carry forward many, if not most, of the same traditions and patterns we were raised with.
Normal is subjective.
So it really isn't a matter of right or wrong.
I'm not saying it's a problem, especially if it's done responsibly.
Personally, I just choose not to normalize alcohol around my kids.
I don't demonize it at all, either.
They just don't see it as much as other children may.
I was raised the same way (on my mother's side -- which I'm the closest too).
It's actually somewhat odd for us to have alcohol at our family gatherings, although most of us do drink in some capacity.
