Posted by illEskoBar221, Mon Dec-15-14 12:53 PM
The cat that had the 2nd verse on camp Lo song swing

I think his name was ish or something like that
That's a cold ass line
I've always wanted to say it in a real Convo

What did it mean though?

Uptown Saturday night is one of my favorite albums though
Geechie suede was my favorite member of the group
His voice sounded great over all of those beats,

same cat.

*edit* I am a BIG Camp Lo Fan., Uptown is a classic.
12675909, Love that track, that record was just magic
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Mon Dec-15-14 01:42 PM
There are a lot of puzzling lines on it because it was just an odd mix of fiction, blaxploitation references and then contemporary stuff that was sometimes oddly phrased or used.

One thing I never got was their obsession with Mitsubishi cars. They talk about Diamantes and Monteros. Why?
12675943, because...the 90's
Posted by FLUIDJ, Mon Dec-15-14 02:05 PM
you gotta realize....
people had more down to earth, realistic aspirations back then....
and it ALSO showcases just how low we were as a culture fiscally back then....it wasn't until the LATE 90's that the majority of rappers knew what being rich could REALLY be like...

Hell....a Q45 Infinity was like the creme de la creme....
12675990, could it be that it was all so simple then?
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Dec-15-14 02:47 PM
I saw those dudes at the 9:30 Club back when I was in college.

Camp Lo were definitely weird. Dark skin cat had a choker on and the other one had a Jimmi Hendricks scarf on. Dudes were rocking pastels and polyester pants with no back pockets.

We talking hip hop and dude is like.. "does this color make me look fat" while doing hip hop poses in a mirror.

interview over, them niggas weird.

12679283, I watched an interview they did on sway...
Posted by illEskoBar221, Thu Dec-18-14 09:41 AM
Man geechie suede was wild pico de gallo
During that interview. His mannerism
How he talked. He Gave off that Carl Lewis vibe
dude is my favorite member of the group
Smh. I always thought the sonny cheeba was the iffy
One from how he acted In the luchini vid
12679298, yeah my intro to them was an interview on rap city or some other bet shit
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Thu Dec-18-14 09:55 AM
right when the record was about to drop. they are mad weird. it's a shame they have done so little since.
12679344, DEAD @ pico de gallio
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Dec-18-14 10:25 AM
I can't front.. that album still bangs and that cat had flow...

made me realize that sometimes it's OK to not meet a rapper.
12679386, Did these niggas really have on polyester pants
Posted by illEskoBar221, Thu Dec-18-14 10:57 AM
Dog...smh
How did this nigga say
"Does this color make me look fat"
Like at what part of the Convo did he blurt that out
Lol

Yeah I'm not sure i want to meet a rapper lol
12679411, they were dressed like JJ and Michael on Good Time's bruh...
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Dec-18-14 11:11 AM
Nah.. he didn't actually ask if it made him look fat.. more like "how does this look on me"

He was all about his fashion..

I want to believe he was playing up his character but it was such a stark contrast from Jeru who opened for him.

Jeru is passing the blunt asking us "where the hoes at?" and these dudes in the next dressing room fluffing they scarves and shit.

12679538, Lol! if this was around uptown Saturday nite they were in that mode
Posted by illEskoBar221, Thu Dec-18-14 12:28 PM
Niggas probably walking around saying
Jive turkey and alladat mess lol
I'm surprised they didn't pull out a plate of that "toot" lol

But when I look at the game now
If they hadve been on that dress code now
They would fit right in with these new guys

Uptown Saturday is one of my favorite albums
Those beats were too tough
"Spanish Harlem" shit reminds me of
Miami then to go from that to "negro league"
Which was some Timbo and hoody shit...
The album had range

12679671, yeah... it was late 90's and that album still bangs..
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Dec-18-14 01:44 PM
but that shit was still hilarious to see.

12679686, that toot, that booga suga hahahahaha
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Thu Dec-18-14 02:01 PM
yeah man they were wild, mf'ers dressed like they coached a gatdamn ABA team.
12679284, Niggas rapped about Ballantine and e&j
Posted by illEskoBar221, Thu Dec-18-14 09:42 AM
It's crazy but when you broke it down it makes sense
12679297, nah other cats were already rapping about lexus, bmw, benz, etc
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Thu Dec-18-14 09:54 AM
