12675654, What Fuckery is Online Report Cards
Posted by ThaAnthology, Mon Dec-15-14 11:24 AM
Apparently my son's school is passed the days of paper report cards and I have to view his grades online (today is report card day).

Man... that is not fair! lol. No anxiety... no having to learn how to forge grades and or signatures...

Booo technology lol Boo it!
12675661, nah, they gotta learn how to code.

Posted by BabySoulRebel, Mon Dec-15-14 11:32 AM

12675700, i don't know why this surprised me
Posted by Calico, Mon Dec-15-14 11:48 AM
...all the tech and online this and that, i should've known this was already crackin somewhere

...i agree about paper cards although i never had any issues...when i got older and would hear stories about people changing their grade or hiding the cards i couldn't relate at all....sometimes i wasn't excited, but my mom didn't play all that "trick" stuff
12675730, if the teacher is proactive.. all grades are available online
Posted by LAbeathustla, Mon Dec-15-14 12:01 PM
assignments, tests, projects, etc.. so you already know whats up... THATS if the teacher puts in the work... this kind of stuff has been available to educators in LAUSD for a while now... do all of them use it.. HELL NAW
12675836, Well... I don't have to kill him!
Posted by ThaAnthology, Mon Dec-15-14 12:48 PM
Hey had a good (not great) but good report card. After the struggles from last year, I am really proud of him. Somebody is getting his favorite cookies!
12675880, i keep forgetting some of yall old as shit
Posted by tomjohn29, Mon Dec-15-14 01:21 PM

12675892, considering that there's still folks out there without a computer
Posted by PoppaGeorge, Mon Dec-15-14 01:31 PM
... this is some bullshit.

still... those same folks prolly got an Xbox or PS3/4 in the crib but can't splurge on a $100 craigslist computer.

12675982, Those folks are out there and it's stupid.

One of the secretaries at one of my old jobs had an iPhone, husband had a sparkling new Windows Mobile 6.5 phone. She bragged about how she had bought her kids a Wii even though they already had a 360. She got dinged a few times by corp IT for trying to get around the web filters to go to FB, Gmail, and Youtube and I asked why she just didn't user her computer at home.

"We don't have a computer at home, can't afford a decent one"
*blank stare* "but you have an iPhone, Wii, and a 360???"
"Yes but we need those"
"You do know you can get a functioning PC from craigslist for about $100 or so with a monitor, right?"
"No, if we're going to get one it's got to be a decent computer"
"I'm saying, a $100 PC is a start though. It'll be good enough to do most things pretty well."

At this point I was fairly disgusted. She wasn't the only person I knew like this either. One family had the latest phones imaginable, flat screens in every room, all manner of vidya consoles, and the only computer in the house was an old Acer with a copy of Win98SE on it so full of malware they didn't bother booting it up anymore 'cause it took something like 30 minutes just to boot.

$300 will get you an expandable internet portable
12676153, I'd prefer to see 'em with a Netbook instead.

>$300 will get you an expandable internet portable

At least a netbook has a fully functional, widely adopted OS with all manner of applications available.

(yes, I own a netbook and use it daily. A Dell Mini10 (1012) dual booting between XP and Linux)

We bought my oldest a netbook-ish Gateway last year for xmas, ran a bit over $300 but it was well worth it.

12675985, Their smartphone is their computer
Posted by John Forte, Mon Dec-15-14 02:42 PM
These are the same people who don't know their own email password because they've only ever accessed it through their mail app.
12676649, If you have a smartphone do you really need a computer?
Posted by ThaTruth, Tue Dec-16-14 10:23 AM
12676853, yes, yes you do.
Posted by PoppaGeorge, Tue Dec-16-14 11:49 AM
A smartphone can't do everything a full blown PC can and side-by-side it's pretty shitty at the things they can both do.

Save as HTML and edit the HTML in notepad. Or you could just hit F12 and change the front end display. They really did not think this through did they?

Posted by ThaAnthology, Mon Dec-15-14 04:42 PM
and I aint even worried hahaha. but still I just find it odd that this school does not do paper report cards. His school last year did and they are in the same district.
12676357, What good is this if the parent has to log into to see the grades?
Posted by PimpTrickGangstaClik, Mon Dec-15-14 09:41 PM
The kid would have to change the information on the school's end, which would take considerably more skill and effort

12676525, thats not how any of this works (c) esurance

the days of changing that "D" to a "B" is long gone.
all the old ways are long gone and now kids need
to think outside the box to get way with shit.
