12674758, Damn. I'm quite slammable.
Posted by Madvillain 626, Sat Dec-13-14 12:01 PM
So I checked my email and saw one of them paid surveys, so I did the little questionnaire to see if I qualify.

Asked my weight so I weighed myself real quick...wtf...I'm 157 pounds!

6' 2''. 157 pounds. Damn, I coulda swore I was around 180. I barely got 20 pounds on the types of women I like to pursue.

Some details: I smoke/vape a lot of weed. Got anxiety so maybe that burns calories. Also don't have a car so I walk more than the average person.

But yeah, I need to gain some weight. I'm 25, it's bout time I had a grown man physique.

Need some tips from the brolic OKPs:

what are some protein heavy foods I can consume? Do I need more steak, burgers and bacon in my life?

I run about 2 miles at least 3 times a week? Too much for my skinny ass?

Goin back to the gym soon. What else can a breh do to get bigger?
12674760, to get big u gotta eat big.
Posted by Heinz, Sat Dec-13-14 12:11 PM
bulk. get back to running when u built good amount of muscle over a year or 8 months and go on a deficit.

12674767, so more trips to five guys?
Posted by Madvillain 626, Sat Dec-13-14 12:20 PM
i know there are vegetarian diets that are high in protein but i love meat so i'm trying to get the best of both worlds and get the most out of my diet.

so basically more pastrami sandwiches, carne asada burritos, bacon and onion ring burgers, etc.?

put running on the back burner while I'm doing this?
12674769, Honestly its hard to do lean bulks
Posted by Heinz, Sat Dec-13-14 12:34 PM
if nutrition and lifting are new to u i wouldnt even try it yet. Im not saying do some dirty bulking lol but u dont have to do no vegetarian protein ish. I suggest that for people who have muscle already and want to maintain or slowly grow more muscle mass like Vex. That shit is not gonna be optimal for new people, protein from meat is just far much more better and beneficial for growing muscle.

12674779, eat your bodyweight x 15 + 1000 in calories
Posted by J_Stew, Sat Dec-13-14 12:47 PM
157 x 15 = ~2350 + 1000 = 3300-3400 calories, that should help you gain quality weight without much fat gain. Personally I say eat like 5000-6000 calories a day and Squat, Bench, Deadlift, Press, pull-up, swing, and row. Don't give a shit about "clean" eating at your age and weight, eat every fucking thing in sight. When you aren't lifting you should be eating or sleeping. Stop that running shit. If you aren't willing to do that, you don't really want to get big. I went from 165(I'm also 6'2") to 240 in seven or eight months doing that, and when I dieted back down I was a ripped 205.

People think they eat, they don't, you have to eat like its a sport, it's actually hard as fuck.
12674855, CHUUUUUUURCH!!!!! When you're really eating to bulk...
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Dec-13-14 02:41 PM
the shit is not pretty. It requires mad effort. You gotta eat when you aint even hungry. I got a potna who is skinny as fuck. Dude has literally been the same size since high school and we both turned 40 this year. Remarkable, actually. He told me one time he was eating like a horse but still couldn't gain. I made him right down for me one day's worth of eating...every.single.thing. This ninja gave me the paper, he hadn't eaten over 1800 calories, lol.
12674861, This is the funniest/ best shit ever on eating to get big:

Double up pieces if you have to. I’m telling you now, you’re going to get three or four pieces in and you’re gonna want to quit. You fucking can’t quit. You have to sit on that couch until every piece is done.

And if you can’t finish it, don’t you ever come back to me and tell me you can’t gain weight. ’Cause I’m gonna tell you that you don’t give a fuck about getting bigger and you don’t care how much you lift!”
12674887, A+ posting. This shit had me crying nm

12674787, You need to eat every 1.5 hours
Posted by Kira, Sat Dec-13-14 12:57 PM
If you at work bring a container full of food you can stuff your face with.

Eat 1.5 hours, consume a 2700+ calorie protein shake, and drink at least 1.5 liters of water. You'll gain a lot of weight in six months. J Stew is right screw running.
12674791, running sucks. stuff your face. lift big. acquire mass.

Posted by spare_tire, Sat Dec-13-14 03:18 PM
work on cardio and vascularity.

if you want to be stronger do calisthenics rather than weight lifting.

being 150-160 lbs at 6' is less strain on your heart/joints/etc than carrying 20-50 extra lbs of muscle/fat.

Posted by justin_scott, Sun Dec-14-14 12:17 PM
I'm 34 though. my metabolism hasn't slowed down one bit, but just like you I have no car, and walk everywhere. I also work out 3x a week. maybe when I'm in my 40's i'll gain a few pounds. I actually like being this thin. I don't look anorexic (or snoop-ish) in any way, and it's better on my body over the long run.
12675146, when I was 25 I was 155lbs at 6'1" tall
Posted by PoppaGeorge, Sun Dec-14-14 01:12 PM
I could eat more that the average hamplanet too. I was the cat that would go to White Castles and order 10 cheese burgers w/pickles and ketchup, a few chickens, maybe a coupla fish or a few double cheese joints, a large fries, and a tankard of Coke or whatever and kill it. Then, if you ain't finished with your food I'm like "you gonna eat those???"

I did lift weights and run but would only get stronger, quicker, and faster. I couldn't pack on any muscle mass for shit despite being physically stronger and my body fat stayed between 2 and 3 percent.

As you get older your metabolism will slow down. Mine started when I was 26. Once you start workin office jobs you'll start packing on weight.

(edit) also, once your metabolism slows, it's a constant struggle with weight. Right now I'm 225lbs, up from 215 last month and that's how shit works. I lose weight, then gain it back, lose it, then gain it back. Shit sucks.
12675180, that anxiety is probably going to keep you skinny
Posted by bearfield, Sun Dec-14-14 02:42 PM
i've had at least one moderate to severe anxiety disorder for my entire life and have always been very skinny (and at times unhealthily skinny) even though i've always had a strong appetite and an aversion to physical activity. when i started taking anti-anxiety meds earlier this year i gained about 30 pounds in a few months despite eating about the same and working out on a daily basis for the first time in a decade or so. at some point the side effects of those meds became too much to deal with so i stopped taking them. my anxiety returned, i stopped working out, didn't change my diet (started eating worse in fact), and still lost those 30 pounds in about 5 months

fair warning: depending on what kind of anxiety you have, it's likely going to get much worse once you hit 30. mine was always pretty manageable in my 20s but ~6 years ago, around the time i turned 30, it became completely unbearable. it turns out that 31 is the average age that generalized anxiety disorder sets in. if you can start taking steps now to learn how reduce your anxiety on a physiological level (meaning regular exercise, a better diet, learning how to reset your autonomic nervous system at will, etc.), you'll be in a better position to deal with it, should it happen

i'd lose weight trying to eat lean protein.

in fact that's how i eat egs, fish, shrimp, occasional chicken or a burger, very little sugar and yeah i've lost weight since iw as a teenager.
12675219, fried chicken, mac and cheese and milk shakes...
