Your "friend" simply needs to get her belongings from your garage and place them somewhere else. I believe she took advantage of your kindness as well as took your friendship for granted. Based on everything you have shared, you may have to charge her to the game. I hope her children do not have to suffer too much. Last..you may want to not do certain friends certain favors, especially involving money, unless they act in good faith by breaking bread first. I hope everything will work outhere for the best.
