I was playing an om music mix from the 2010 conference
And it got me thinking about it

What's it like?
How were the parties/ vibe?
Did you have fun?

Its can be great fun if you don't plan on sleeping and enjoy house music., I usually rolled up on a friday evening and left monday. My routine was usually hitting up an afternoon session from noon to about 6 ish, got dinner, hit the hotel room to freshen up and then go catch another session from about 10 to well into the wee hours. Breakfast, sleep rinse and repeat.

mostly outdoor pool parties at the many hotels on south beach all though the one year I got passes for a yacht party that sailed some 40 miles off the coast of florida.
Vibes will depend on your type of preferred house music. I am a deep house, lounge type of guy so I would check out for Naked Music sessions, Dj Spinna, MAW etc.. they were usually more laid back as compared to some of the other acts like Tiesto or David Guetta.

Always, and each year got better and better the more I understood the vibes and who to check out for. All the acts can be playing at the same time and different venues so you gotta know who you wanna check for.

yea...ive' been trying to plan going to WMC the past few years but can't because of work.

I've been told by friends who go every where (and live in the MIA-Ft. Lauderdale area), GO DURING THE WEEK and bounce that weekend because it's pointless to even try and swing WMC that last weekend with the tourists and the lame ass big time acts that have been taking over the main stage....

You can go to 10 parties for the price of ULTRA

...make sure you hit up the surfcomber and the sagamore. Those are two hotels I guarantee will have some pretty sick lineups.

The week of parties is the way to go. ULTRA is wayyyyyyyy overpriced and musically getting shittier every year as crap takes over the main stage. Back in the day i saw The Prodigy, Underworld, Plastikman Live, The Streets, and the Chemical Brothers Live all on the nain stage. Now its shit like Martin Garrix and the Chainsmokers on the main stage. Side stages still have quality stuff but cmon. If you want to go to a festival i recommend Movement Detroit. Superior in every way.

The events during the week tho...FLAMES. Drum and bass, minimal techno, broken beat ambient...whatever you like there are 3 parties a night with top talent, and 2 during the daytime.

If you go, dont pay $400 for an ULTRA ticket. Everything you want to see is available during the week for less money and a better atmosphere.

Ultra is candy kids, EDM bros/hoes, and scenesters. I went to the first 4 back in the day, can't pay me to go now but if you've never been, it's an experience.

But every act or DJ you wanna see will be playing at multiple clubs in town for the entire week. Every spot, restaurant, pop up store, bar, will have a bomb ass lineup in whatever genre you're into

For me it's drum n bass so I would go to Viram, world of drum n bass, metalheadz showcase, etc etc

Sunset cruises are where it's at

Hotels jack up prices so book way in advance

WoDNB was also great
