yes, there are all kinds of intelligence, but i'm speaking generally here. So therefore, it's subjective..whatever "more intelligent" means to you...

12669567, He's probably book smarter than me, but I'm killing him in the common sense

12669983, I don't even think he's WAY book smarter, but he's more well rounded
Posted by AnaStezia, Tue Dec-09-14 05:10 AM
He's had a more thorough foundation, like classic literature and studying Latin, and he's a lot better at math.
12669998, I'm in the same boat with my wife

American common sense and ________ common sense? like is common sense cultural?

i guess i'm trying to help poor Frenchie out lol

d
12669836, well yeah becuase everything is done differently.

i was really sick. my french friend said i should go to the doctor right away. i explained if i went to the er i would have a $1500 bill. i would just wait until they called me back and see if could/woudl get an appt the next morning.

in certain countries, it's common sense to bribe people into doing things or to cheat on your taxes (cause taxes are so high so to pay for all those free doctor's visits).
12669981, I'm not even talking about cultural things
Posted by AnaStezia, Tue Dec-09-14 04:59 AM
I'm talking about shit like reading labels and instructions and having foresight and logic. That shit should be universal.
12670069, some things are universal...
Posted by gumz, Tue Dec-09-14 10:09 AM
it also has more to do with the way you think and adapt to situations. book smarts is mostly about retaining a ton of facts you learned (in school or through reading...etc.). common sense is more about having good instincts and being able to handle a variety of situations based on things you've picked up through life experience.
12669571, Me, but it's close

Everything else its her.
12669578, me.

She tries to argue this, but in the end it becomes crystal clear where the brains lie.

12669593, This Is Me

And my wife has a masters degree in Criminal Justice

But when it comes to logic and quick thinking, it's me all day.
12669751, yeah... I'm just gonna slide into this line.

12669724, I have a PhD in theoretical physics, but she wins every time in Scrabble
Posted by stravinskian, Mon Dec-08-14 04:43 PM

Not every time, but it's like a 2:1 ratio.

So I'd say her.
12669750, wife beat me 2 out of 3 in scrabble over the weekend
Posted by tomjohn29, Mon Dec-08-14 05:07 PM

12669752, if scrabble is the basis i need to change my answer
Posted by veritas, Mon Dec-08-14 05:11 PM

12669811, haha plebs... I rule in scrabble
Posted by PoppaGeorge, Mon Dec-08-14 07:05 PM
No one in my family has a vocabulary like mine, even my Ivy League degree wielding corporate lawyer brother-in-law.

12669814, I have a higher IQ, but she's smarter though
Posted by bigkarma, Mon Dec-08-14 07:14 PM
On paper. I have a MENSA level IQ and I had kick-ass SAT and Regents scores in high school and college. But, I was a B-C student all my life because I was also highly unmotivated.

My wife, however, is very motivated and driven, and did much better in school than I did. So I consider her combination on IQ and drive to trump my higher IQ.
12669854, She's got a Dr. beside her name.
Posted by kingjerm78, Mon Dec-08-14 08:15 PM
But i have more useless info. Like if we were on a game show, I'd be that nigga.
12670066, I am also in this exact boat

Field, and be like "oh, I thought everyone know that."

12669952, Where's the push option? Because that shit is tied.
Posted by MEAT, Mon Dec-08-14 11:57 PM
The other day we found out she didn't know how to pronounce cahoots.
Meanwhile my geographical and historical knowledge is below good.

So we're both lacking in some pretty basic ways.

But as far as career and professional items we're both up there.

I think we'd both say the other person.
12669985, More-or-less equal in different directions.
Posted by TheAlbionist, Tue Dec-09-14 05:31 AM
She's definitely better at some things and I'm definitely better at others, but I find myself being corrected by her example at least as often as she is by mine.

She says I'm the only person she's dated that she ever concedes to intellectually... she's probably the first for me too.
12670107, RE: Be Honest: Who is More Intelligent: You or Your SO?

she'd say her, so I'mma say her...
12670872, totally smarter

Posted by Deeva, Tue Dec-09-14 07:30 PM
and I will let him have that because I know I'm wiser. We feel its a winning combo.
12670965, Ghostface "Smart dumb niggas"
Posted by adg87, Tue Dec-09-14 07:40 PM
LOL. I like to put my wife in that category, although I would say she's more "dippy" than dumb. She's from Florida and is a product of hanging with the white party girls at her school. (University of South Florida) We're both in school although she's pursuing her masters while I'm in search of my B.S. I'm a much better writer than her, and have done a few papers for her to help her out (including a 10 page thesis in which I got her an A) and sometimes give her a hard time about turning in work with grammatical or spelling errors. She thinks I'm trying to down her, but I really want the best for her and want her to be seen in the best light by her professors. She's really, really good with money and oversees the budget in our house so I bow down to her there. I just hear Ghost in my head when she says something off the map, or mispronounces a word. I'm not a some grammar Nazi, I just want her to be more aware of the work she submits. Otherwise she's a great woman with great conversational skills and high intelligence.
12670971, He* is.
Posted by Sepia., Tue Dec-09-14 07:48 PM
He is my imaginary SO.

He would say I'm smarter, and we're both adamant about those opinions.
I think that's the ideal.

I've never been in that ideal situation, but it sure would be nice.
12671053, i am, but she's way more creative.
Posted by KiloMcG, Tue Dec-09-14 10:35 PM
we compliment each other well, even though we both get on each other's nerves at times also. haha
