via Twitter

To all my fans, I want u to know that my album won't and hasn't been released bekuz Baby & Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it.

This is not my fault. I am truly and deeply sorry to all my fans but most of all to myself and my family for putting us in this situation.

I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain't that easy

I am a prisoner and so is my creativity Again,I am truly sorry and I don't blame ya if ya fed up with waiting 4 me & this album. But thk u

12667135, damn. this is a worst fear realized. baby gonna kill him
Posted by MrThomas43423, Thu Dec-04-14 01:37 PM
like suge and pac. its gonna turn him into a martyr, and all those kids in their mid-20s who grew up on Wayne are gonna argue that he's the greatest rappers ever. and that argument offends my sensibilities.

12667157, i dreaded this shit in 2006/2007 when some kids i used to work with...
Posted by MrThomas43423, Thu Dec-04-14 01:48 PM
called him the greatest rapper ever. i was still stuck in Biggie, Jay-Z, Nas, Pac mode. like there were no other possibilities to me. and when they said that i was like damn....they're young. to them....he really might be. and that was when he was on that lean real, real tough and all i could think was God...don't let him die and get called the greatest. i don't even wanna have that argument with these kids.

Posted by double 0, Thu Dec-04-14 02:21 PM
umm No...

T. james.. couldnt rap.. so when shit hit the fan he never had another hit.. simple

This could be fake (seems too coherent for Wayne) or could be something more simple. What record have you heard this year from Wayne good enough to launch an album off of? "Believe me" was the closest and that's too many months ago now.

There is no demand for Wayne to drop an albums so he doesnt need to
12667614, he could have come behind "Loyal"
Posted by Mr. ManC, Thu Dec-04-14 08:40 PM
but I see your overall point.

12667169, didn't Tyga get cursed out by Wayne and Nicki for saying the same thing?

the thought of wayne doing a reggae album kilt me
but hey snoop did it lol

but i'm assuming he's talking about more than just being high on lean and a bunch of martian madness or whatever he's been on
he probably trying to change his image to a more positive one and they don't want him putting that shit out
many artists have talked about being shelved and dropped for those reasons

and the only thing funnier than that is picturing the type of bammas that would play that shit, straightfaced, with no irony.

12667197, Pusha T's campaigning for Wayne to sign to GOOD music.
Posted by Kira, Thu Dec-04-14 02:06 PM
Wayne wants out.
Tyga wants out.
Busta left.

When did Nicki and Wayne curse out Tyga?

Wayne should've left for Def Jam when he had the chance. YMCMB on Def Jam is seen in this era as the new Def Jam Records.
12667216, thats odd, when did they squash beef?
Posted by Nodima, Thu Dec-04-14 02:16 PM
pretty sure Pusha was still hating on Wayne as recently as Til the Casket Drops at least. We Got It for Cheap Vol. 3 was basically dedicated to roasting the kid. I'd love Wayne on GOOD though.

i've heard rumblings from around the industry there was splits happening

from what I heard its bigger than just holding his album and more about not being paid by Baby. I think he's still owed a bunch of money and Baby aint paying him. Thats why you started seeing that Rich Gang shit cause Baby was figuring out his exit strategy post Weezy. Why would he work with Young Thug who sounds exactly like the syrup cup mumbling on the studio floor seizure Weezy? Mind you that new Rich Gang tape is actually good so his plan was pretty much working. He got 2 new kids to focus on to blow up and hold Weezy's album.

Even when u seen Weezy featured on a Young Thug joint..when dd u ever see Weezy promote that shit? lol and RG chains all in the video, no more of those Cash Money chains...the power of the logo chain lol...If you think about it they been silently going their different ways in the public people just never talked about it....

12667406, I mean I guess this means that president title is just a title.
Posted by Nodima, Thu Dec-04-14 04:40 PM
When Young Money first formed, the publicity was definitely about how it was essentially Wayne's label to run under/within Cash Money. the way I understood it was Baby would sign artists to Cash Money and Wayne would handle Young Money. But then they started doing the YMCMB thing four or five years ago, Mack Maine took over and now it's just about Birdman on Cash Money and everyone else on YME.

Wayne aint had this much press since Carter III...

let's see if he suddenly gets a "flash" release of the project...

I mean its not different than the fabricated news about Bey & Jay divorcing to sell concert tickets..

Lil Wayne is under contract to Cash Money Records. When he actually wants to leave and not troll us, he'll stop tweeting about it and hire a lawyer to negotiate a contract settlement. The end.
12667870, Baby would never sign that shit...
Posted by legsdiamond, Fri Dec-05-14 10:29 AM
I doubt there is a number that anyone is willing to pay to get Weezy off that label at this point in his career.

12668460, I think he's a big enough star that someone could
Posted by b.Touch, Fri Dec-05-14 04:07 PM
potentially put up the money.

As for Baby, it'd be pretty bad business for him to "be like Big Red and keep him in the contract." He's likely to sign if the price is right.
12667742, Speaking of Young Money, Glasses Malone's DJ told me the strategy
Posted by -DJ R-Tistic-, Fri Dec-05-14 04:35 AM
and why Baby signs sooooo many damn rappers.

Said he really is on some pimp shit. The label basically pays him for pure numbers sold, so if ANY of the randoms on Young Money get plays, it all helps him to get paid more and more per year. He plans to shelf 90% of the rappers there, but unlike Aftermath where they did nothing at all with them, he allows them to at least attempt to make hits.

And with that....he appears in all the artists' videos..because he's able to charge that to them and pay himself just for his video appearance. Similar to how they said Diddy would change up one hi-hat and give himself producer credit...or how he'd do two "take that" ad-libs and then credit himself as an artist on the track.

It's even more to it that he explained to me...but I always wondered why he allowed so many random ass artists to be on the label, knowing they'd never come out or receive full promo.

Yea Cash Money specifically has always done well with random singles since that Jay Sean, Kevin Rudolph era...

It also helped that he had an in house feature artist (Wayne) for all those pop records..

Ultimately the biggest issue is HE gets the royalty checks from Universal. Its on him to fulfill royalty payments and everything else.

And we already know how that goes
