12625634, Surpassing Ye as an MC isn’t really a big deal

He’s not all that good in the rhyming department and never has been. People are just easily impressed with weak, forced wordplay and surface-level “consciousness” in the mainstream. His status as some rap titan has always been little more than a byproduct of badly diminishing standards and expectations.

Now if you want to talk about his production and his ability to become a big time pop star, that’s a different discussion but even that plays into the fact that we live in an era where people like Snooki are considered celebrities and Ye’s wife can rocket to stardom off the strength of her father’s name and association with the O.J case and fucking a b-list has been’s d-list brother during the Information Age. She fucks Ray-J 40 years ago and nobody ever knows who she is.

The collective cultural dumbing-down of society + the Reality era of talentless douchebags with good abs/a fat ass/a scary botox face can vault into celebrity overnight + the fact that ye actually does have transcendent ability as a producer are why Ye is even mentioned as an MC.
