JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —

Michael Dunn has been found guilty with the first-degree murder of Jordan Davis.

Dunn showed very little emotion when the verdict came down.

Judge Russell Healey set a tentative sentencing date of Oct. 17.

The announcement of the verdict came shortly before 3:50 p.m., after more than five hours of deliberations including lunch.

Judge Russell Healey thanked jurors for their service.

Attorneys and families are filing into the courtroom at 3:30 p.m. when the jury announced it had reached a verdict.

The judge asked people in the courtroom to contain their emotions.

The jury received the case at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The jury had the option to choose from first-degree murder, second-degree murder, manslaughter, not guilty (same as justifiable use of force) and hung jury.

Tuesday started with a marathon of testimony from Dunn himself, who spent about two hours on the stand.

"I wasn't shooting to kill. I was shooting to make sure they stayed down," said Dunn.

Dunn maintains that on the night of November 2012 he shot into an SUV carrying 17-year-old Davis and three friends in self-defense. It started as an argument over loud music.

The state questioned Dunn about why he didn't call 911 that night, and called witnesses to shoot holes in his story including his exfiancee, Rhonda Rouer, who was with him that evening two years ago.
