It can be packaged differently but today's consumerism is addiction marketed as empowerment. The big retailers, fast food restaurants and tobacco companies refer to their customers as "heavy users". Telling people not to get high off retail during the biggest time of the year is to alert them to the facade. "See you in February" does not put the genie back in the bottle. This could be seen as a terrorist act by some and at the very least an act of aggression.
