seriously there are parents who have already promised kids things for christmas. those kids are waiting now for that day when they get to open it up. they won't be able to hear all the rationale behind, you're just not going to get it this year in solidarity. it will just be heard as them not getting what they were promised.

its easy for us adults to rationalize it but not necessarily fair for them to be forced to accept our rationalizations which they don't understand. this *has* to be accounted for because we need their support as much as we need the adults support.
