Preface: I like the song.

The video is kind of uncomfortable on a few levels.

Wrong reasons: her look is all my early 20's "Lets chop of these bitches" (c) kryptonites wrapped up in one little package.

Right reasons: love her take on that 'future bass' (horrible name) lurching cloud rap type beats and her producer Arca is that dude and laced her up lovely.

Onto the video:

It's one of those things where it looks disturbing but hard to say why. It's got a heavy S&M vibe with him sticking her fingers in his mouth and while it *looks* like he's manhandling her by holding her by her throat there's no pressure. You've got the racialized imagery of the big scary (intentional here) and shorter lighter skinned chick but considering we live in a 2014 where we've consumed so much varied amounts of porn due to the internet even 12 year olds know bangbus, can't be that. Furthermore, even the S&M vibe is even pretty mild, ive had a wilder thrashing about's with various young ladies after heated arguments (usually involving Ikea or parking spots).

So I come to the conclusion it's more about how mild S&M is portrayed in an almost sensuous way. If the beat was a trap song about choking bitches out, I don't think it would be as disturbing.

That video of her in Tulum is soooo good. Her voice is great but the wave is to now sound like you're on the verge of a nervous breakdown over some dope electro/soul beats
