I realized that I am just very Black American and I like being immersed in my culture. My husband also got a great job in DC that we couldn’t pass up. I was pregnant and super irritable. I think I also just got tired of the luke warm showers, my electricity going out, and the lack of diversity in terms of food options. This was especially true in Ghana. I lived there 10 years ago, so I’m sure things have changed some what. I have a few friends who moved to Cape Coast who still complain about these things. I think it’s all about what you can personally deal with. I also think you have to be deeply committed to repatriation as a deeply held political belief. I wasn’t there at the time.
