i was flying back and forth to china during SARS. they had the remote thermometers checking people's temperature when arriving from planes and trains, pulling people out of line.
w/ covid-19, you can't tell 'who looks sick' as a preventative measure, so anyone could potentially be spreading it and aggressive screening for symptomatic persons may only be limiting the potential spread by one to thirds.
