movement in a direction (however extreme) expresses movement in a direction - not definitive realities.


example:

"man, the US government is taxing everything - taxing property, taxing income, taxing estates - what are they going to tax next - how much air I breathe?"


Now....

you seem to be the type to say: "It's ridiculous that the US would tax the air people breathe, why would anyone come up with a question like that?"

But most people understand asking questions that point to a "direction" is how people express themselves - people don't only confine themselves to frameworks that seem "mild" or "reasonable" to make a point.
