the fucked up bombing we did anyway throughout se asia, strategic nukes in europe and central america, israeli preemptive strikes, and decades of fucked up intervention in iran/iraq/etc that were conventional but still killed/displaced millions while making us less safe.

this isn't out of line with all that. when you don't think of "the enemy" as people, you tend to forget that other people will react to and respond to and be affected by your violence.
