Many white people seem want to consistently be recognized as individuals, while denying that the social group they belong to brings them anything.
You see this a lot with "affirmative action" or slavery. Why should "you" get x when I worked hard and didn't get z. Or "my" ancestors never owned slaves, yada yada.
It's a very human way to look at things, but also supremely myopic.
So in this case we someone demanding your recognize their trauma at the expense of others, he'll interject it in every interaction until you do, doesn't matter that it's off topic, that one has to deny their own internal reflection on an article ... no recognize above all else that he alone knows what trauma is and you should not give the author any empathy or sympathy, only him.
Seems like a bottomless pit of need. Hope he gets the help that he seems to be screaming for.
