If it was just about electing any Democrat, then why didn't he push Biden to run? Why was he privately so dismissive of Bernie Sanders?

Again, the Trump joke is already an enormous scandal, just like the Hillary thing was rightfully a scandal. Elevating the motivation to a ridiculous conspiracy theory makes it less of a scandal, not more.
