Super delegates only play a real factor if you have a really close race.

From that prospective, I get where DWS was coming from (even though she used the worst phrasing possible).

If the voting public overwhelming goes for the grassroots candidate, then there is nothing the establishment (i.e. super delegates) can do to stop him/her.

But if it is very close in terms of popular support, then the people who represent the party will have the final say.
