There were a few years there where every month or two I'd get a different forward from someone or other stating that next week it would suddenly be legal for telemarketers to call your cell phone, and you needed to add your cell to the federal Do Not Call list in order to prevent telemarketers from calling your cell all night and day.

Inevitably people added that a telemarketer had just called their cell (which is very possible, though not legal), and that they had just added their cell number to the Do Not Call list (which is also perfectly fine, but not evidence that one needs to do so.)
