to earlier dates and there was talk of some state(s) having theirs before Iowa and NH. b/c some of the other states want the $ and attention that comes w/being the first or one of the first state primaries.

i just read that the NH statute authorizing the primary says it's to be held on the Tuesday BEFORE ANY OTHER STATE has a similar election. Iowa's doesn't count b/c it's a caucus so it's not 'similar'.
