TI's Trap Muzik kind of brought it into focus and TM101 crystalized it
One of the engineers at Grand Hustle while Trap Muzik was being recorded was Daniel Disaster aka MEGANFOXXX aka Heroes x Villains, the pioneer of "trapstep", the precursor to modern "white trap".
He shouldn't be blamed tho, because this was what it was like in the early days:
