Like the baby fell down the steps or he dropped her from his arms. Hard to imagine a ~2-foot fall off a couch onto a wooden floor or carpet could cause much trauma beyond a few bumps and bruises. Also, it seems like the signs of abuse are usually instantly spotted by the doctors & nurses. Part of their job is to look for these things.

It's gotta be a horrible feeling both parents are feeling. RIP to that baby.
