Of course both my wife and I + all our siblings were given water, and were fine.


Never heard the liver and electrolytes thing. Our pediatrician just said it wasnt necessary because babies get all teh water content they need in breastmilk and/or in our daughters case formula. So basically giving them water just filled up their stomachs and left less room for the actual nutritious food.


Come to think of it.

How is it that water by itself is not okay for the liver, but when you just mix in formula it suddenly becomes easier for the liver to handle? There's still water content there. The formula doesnt dilute the water per se.
