I thought it might happen after the Chinese Wall episode. There were a couple hints--narrative-wise and visually--this episode before the question was popped, so I honestly was more surprised by Joan's reveal than anything else.


Final thought: Throughout the run of the series, Don has always seemed at peace in California. Parts of this episode had me thinking it might be a more prominent setting in the season(s) to come. We'll see.
